help me choose PLEASE. time is running out

Hi,

I have about a week to choose where to go to school next year. I'm deciding between UCSB, LMU, and Santa Clara University. (i got accepted to these)

what i want out of college:

-to leave LA
-to be able to get into a good grad school (for mechanical engineering)
-double major: mech engineering and environmental science
-school that will encourage me to break out of my extreme shyness (i have social anxiety disorder). i have extreme trouble with public speaking, presentations, arguing/supporting my beliefs or ideas, talking to authority figures, etc
-to be set up with good job opportunities after graduation so i can work during or before grad school
-i have a twin sister. she's going to lmu. i would like to go to a different school so i can be "my own person"

financial info:

ucsb estimated cost: $30,284
ucsb out-of-pocket cost (estimated cost - scholarships and grants): $17,784
*i was accepted into the honors program

lmu estimated cost: $53,422
lmu out-of-pocket cost (estimated cost - scholarships and grants): $21,322

santa clara estimated cost: $57,742
santa clara out-of-pocket cost (estimated cost - scholarships and grants): $36,242

with all of my personal and financial info, which school would you choose?

thank you!

I would go to ucsb. It’s the best deal and you wouldn’t be going to the same school as your twin. I think what’s really important though is what campus you feel most comfortable with and what school has the best program for your major.

Given what you said, UCSB seems to be a sure fit. Well, I don’t know, it’s a match up between UCSB and LMU, but since you said you don’t want to go to the same school as your sister, UCSB. In addition, the diversity at UCSB will help you fit in right, and the people around you can help you through college.

defintely UCSB i heard their engineering programs is pretty legit

thanks everyone! ucsb seems to be the most popular choice from my friends, my family, and you guys. i just cant get Santa Clara out of my head though. i like it a lot. but its EXPENSIVE as heck. i would go to Santa Clara, but i don’t know if the education and experience is worth that cost… what do you think?

UCSB is a top 50 school nationally. Santa Clara is nice but not in the same league.
