help me choose! political science major

George washington
NYU
BU
Emory
Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD
Occidental

I really wanted to go to Rice but i got denied.. so...

I am left with these schools (they are not bad at all) and i have no idea where to go. I am visiting berkeley this weekend. it should be good but i am not sure.

i have visited occidental and UCLA campus last weekend.
Occidental seemed very well organized and relaxed while UCLA felt little bit up tight and somewhat chaotic. maybe it has something to do with the fact that kid's choice award was going on. occidental was located in city of LA but in a very isolated area with almost no where to go for fun. UCLA felt like more urban and crowed with places to visit. I am liking Occidental little more but my teachers are telling me i should choose a college that feels right with good program

I am an international student and tuition difference is not an issue (or it is equally troubling and choking)

I know berkeley has an amazing poli sci program but i dont know if i can handle the EXTREME enviornment.
Does anyone know if Emory has a good poli sci program? from what i have researched, poli sci is one of the most famous majors within the college but i couldn't find any solid evidence that the program is comparably good.

please help me!

I’d have to say Cal or UCLA

Hey thx for your kind comment on my page. hmm you want to go into political science. I am going to be in the math and science field. I think Emory is a very very good school. Oxy is NOT in the middle of nowhere but very close to LA and believe me LA is nothing but fun!!! We can go party if we end up in Oxy hahahha. Oxy gives a more individualized environment but if you are into competition and the dirty game of politics, I think a bigger school might be a better fit.

By the way which school are you attending right now? I live near Pasadena so I can tell you more about LA if you are interested.

I’d say Cal or UCLA if you’re looking to work in local government or interested in political theory.

However, if you’re interested in gaining experience in federal government, I would say GW simply because of the internship opportunities available. I’m assuming that this is not the case, seeing that Rice was your first choice.

George Washington has essentially limitless internship and career placement opportunities, as well as numerous experienced and/or famous adjunct professors and speakers (for example, Gwen Ifil held a forum last month and Obama spoke there last Friday). It is also considered one of the most politically active schools in the nation.
