Help Me Come Up With Match/Safety Schools for Econ/Business Major?

This is my current college list:
Reaches:
Penn (Wharton)
Columbia
University of Chicago
Claremont McKenna
Georgetown

Matches:
NYU Stern
Washington University in St. Louis (Olin Business School)
Emory

Safeties:
CUNY Baruch College (Zicklin School of Business, Macaulay Honors College)
Chapman University

As you can see, I'm pretty short on matches and safeties. I'm planning on applying ED to Penn, and EA to all the other schools I can apply early to. I'd really like more matches and safeties I can apply EA to.

The big things I'm looking for in a school:
-strong economics or business program
-intellectually challenging
-lots of of extracurricular opportunities
-medium-sized in, or very near, big cities (preferably on the east or west coast)
Also somewhat important but not as much: no overwhelming Greek presence

My stats:
GPA: 4.1/4.3 UW
SAT: 2370, 800 M, 800 W, 770 CR
SAT IIs: 800 Math 2, 770 US History
APs: Calc BC, APUSH, AP Micro, AP Macro for junior year (the first year I could start taking AP classes). I'm expecting 4s and 5s on the AP tests.
Senior Year Schedule: AP Physics C, AP English, AP Stats, AP Euro, Advanced Spanish, and doing an Independent Study/Research Project kind of thing for my last class block
Main ECs: mock trial since sophomore year, debate team since junior year, Spanish honor society since sophomore year, write for school newspaper and an online music site since junior year, I've held various leadership positions in these clubs and student council, volunteer at school events and with disabled children
Things I Do in the Summer: attended CTY twice, went to the Vernon L. Smith high school workshop, taking a computer science course at RPI
probably good essays and excellent letters of recommendation

Asian, from a private school in NY, no legacy anywhere, won't need financial aid, second generation college student, most likely will become a National Merit Semifinalist

Sorry if this is hard to read- if I left out any vital information, please let me know! I appreciate any feedback I can get!

WUStL and Georgetown both have about the same admit rate, ~18%. WUStL is also a reach. Case Western? Grinnell? Macalester would be a good low match.

You would probably qualify for nice merit aid at either Tulane or Fordham (Gabelli School of Business). They would be low-matches, if not safeties, for you. I think that your chances at WUStL are very good. They are known for showing a lot of love to high test-scorers. Their overall admit rate might be only 18%, but their acceptance ration for students with over 2350 is very, very high.

I am looking at almost all of the same schools you are. My two main safety schools are SUNY Binghamton and the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, and I believe both of these would be safeties for you too.

Ok thank you for all the help so far! Would BC be a safety or a match for me?

Bump!

If you apply ED to Penn you may not be allowed To apply EA concurrently to any of the private colleges on your list. Washington University is a reach for most applicants.

@fogcity Yeah I adjusted WUStL accordingly. Also, I’m pretty sure that the only private school where I can’t apply EA while applying ED elsewhere is Georgetown, but I’ll be sure to check closely for all of them. Do you think BC is a safety or a match for me?

BC is not a safety for anyone.

@tomofboston I didn’t think so either, but my guidance counselor told me it was. Then again, she also told me UChicago was a match

Do you have Naviance at your school? Maybe your GC is using that data.

@Erin’s Dad Yeah I’m pretty sure all of our college lists are pulled straight from naviance. Also, is your name tag-able at all??

Holy Cross-top25 LAC 1 hour from Boston. HC also meets 100% demonstrated financial aid.

Does anyone know of any match schools where I can apply non-restricted EA?? Also, it turns out that I will need financial aid

Apparently my name is not tagable. I made it up under the old web site when spaces and special characters were allowed and tagging wasn’t an option. Oh well.

SUNY Binghamton is non-binding early action and could serve as a financial safety as well.

I think there might be too big a gap between your matches and your safetys. Maybe add a school like Fordham, Villanova and/or SUNY Binghamton. (I am pretty certain that they all have non binding EA). BC may be another good option.

And as you probably know, econ and business are very different majors. Econ is a liberal arts major and in a business program you would take a diverse range of business core classes (ex. accounting, finance, management, marketing, business law etc.). Consider if you prefer one course of study over the other and if necessary, adjust your applications accordingly.
