Hello I’m a Junior in high school from St. Louis, Missouri and I have been looking into both of these schools and was just wondering if I could get some help from people who are more familiar with these two schools, so i’m going to put categories below and if you could respond to which school is better in that category, that would be great. Also, if you have any comments those are appreciated as well. Thanks!! (You can copy and paste the thing below if you’d like)

Girls (Not a huge factor but it’s alays nice to have pretty girls):
Both schools are very Greek where Greek culture is very much present. Ole Miss is in a more rural town which is absolutely historically charming. The campus is beautiful. Alabama is in a small town but has much more to it. Its campus is also quite lovely. Both schools will be comparable on school spirit which is huge. My guess is Alabama has more out of state students and has been moving up the ranks with attracting lots of high stat students for their scholarships. If you want the SEC experience in a traditional southern college setting I think either is fine. Living in the south many people have degrees from the SEC schools.
My oldest went to Bama. My next kid was accepted to Ole Miss.
- You are a junior. Apply to both. Applications open end of July. Give yourself time after acceptances to decide where to attend.
Campus:
Bama’s campus is immaculately kept. Clean and gorgeous flowes. It also has roads through the campus.
Ole Miss is a more enclosed campus and feels more compact to walk.
Personally, I prefer Ole Miss
Dorms:
Both have many newer dorms.
Bama has many dorms with 4 person suites with individual bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms / living room. Of course, you are paying a premium for this. Most students only stay on campus first year.
Ole Miss dorms for freshman have roommates. I believe freshman and sophomores remain on campus.
IMO, Bama wins on dorms.
Town:
Oxford is charming! All the restaurants around the square. An awesome bookshop. We just loved it. But getting to the town square really requires a ride
Tuscaloosa is very walkable in the immediate area around the school.
Athletics:
Obviously, football is awesome at both schools.
Not familiar enough with Ole Miss, but Bama softball and women’s gymnastics are amazing too.
Both do have plenty of intramural.
Respectability (for getting a job):
Both are respected and have super alumni networks.
School Spirit: Roll Tide! Hetty Toddy! Seriously, both have it.
Greek Life: Both have a lot. Both are expensive. Both have plenty of students who don’t participate and get by fine.
Girls (Not a huge factor but it’s alays nice to have pretty girls): well, I’m an old Mom, but both have plenty.
