Alright so I'm a rising sophomore at a college in upstate New York and im interested in going into Investment banking after graduation. Although my school has alumni on the street they are few and far between and have been.less than helpful when I've reached out to them.

I had originally planned to start at stern in the fall but financial reasons put an end to that dream so for this next year im commuting and saving as much money as I can. After these two years are up ill have 20k in deferred student loans built up already.

My goal is to transfer into a target/semi target school for IB and consulting recruitment. I need to put together a list of schools that are reasonable targets to apply to, any school with much higher standards than nyu is probably out of the question so far my list is as follows..

NYU -Stern
Cornell - AEM (columbia would be my top choice but if im being honest with myself Cornell is the only ivy I feel I have a shot at)
BC - haven't decided about this I haven't heard the greatest things about recruitment versus price
U Michigan - Ross
UVA - McIntyre
Carnegie mellon
Georgetown - this may be out of my reach as well.

If anyone has any input on schools I should add/remove please let me know.

you didn’t give us your GPA, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, highschool GPA, etc…

there’s no way we can help you without that information

Sat - 1960
HS GPA - 3.4
College GPA - 3.7-.8
Honors program
Presidents list

3 government related internships in highschool. Led my debate team to place 4th in the nys “we the people” competition.

Held a management position at the job I worked throughout high school.

Developing a startup web company secured 750k in seed funding.

About to start a paid PWM internship in the fall.

My main goal is landing at a school with at least a semi target recruitment presence in IB and consulting so im looking at tier 2 schools through Cornell. If I can’t land at a school with adequate street representation ill transfer into either stony brook or baruch to be close to nyc.

Top 3 schools would be penn, chicago, or columbia but I don’t have the numbers to get in.

post a list of all the courses you have taken and will be taking ?

2 writing focused literature courses (every freshman takes these two courses so idk if they will count as an english comp class such as the ones required by transfers to Cornell ) - 6 credits
Macro/microecon - 6 credits
Calc 1&2 - 8 credits
Writing 101 - 3 credits
Intro to poly sci - 3 credits
Business stats - 3 credits
Intro to comp sci - 3 credits

This fall ill be taking:

Intro to investments/institutions - finance 215
Financial accounting
Operations management
Philosophy 101
And either marketing & management or an english lit class im not sure which would be a better choice yet.

You can put Wake Forest and William & Mary on the list. In addition, since you have not get into the core of Business Major yet, you must make sure keep your business courses grades high.

dude…wow…you have a perfect list of courses…perfect college GPA…and your EC’s speck for them selfs…i think you’ll get in almost all top undergrad B schools…try taking bio if you want to make your cornell APP even more competitive, but i think either way you should be fine, the only things that’ll remain are your recommendations, and essay; which i feel will be a piece of cake.

would you care to abbreviate a bit more on your seed funding project, if its not too confidential

if u really talk about ur start up and u fulfill the requirements for cornell aem, i would say u have great shot at cornell… just make sure u take the necessary classes…

Ill be taking public speaking, gen bio, and managerial accounting plus two other finance related courses in the spring to round out the prerequisites at the most of the schools I’ve seen so far. Im not sure if im going to bother with Ross as a transfer I don’t feel like a 5 year plan.

Ill look into wake forest and William and Mary and see about the recruitment there.

Our startup is developing a next generation craigslist type platform.

Anyone have any insight into aid policies at some of these schools? I really got shafted at nyu regarding my aid package which I suppose is the norm. I hear university of Chicago’s aid isn’t bad but how are my chances of acceptance?

If you are out of state, U Mich won’t give you much/ any institutional aid.

UNC and UVA are the only state schools that guarantee to meet need (for freshmen-- transfers might be a different story).

Some colleges are looking for full pay transfers (ie they will tend to reject transfer applicants with financial need). Other colleges are “need blind”, but may gap the financial aid package.

Consider adding Emory.
