Having been lurking around CC for the past few months I’m still somewhat undecided on where I want to apply/visit/research at this point (currently a junior). If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated! Want to major in Computer Science.
Basic Stats:
ACT: 33
GPA: 3.95/4 Weighted Idk, decent amount of APs and lots senior year.
Decent ECs but nothing too special
I’ve already visited Purdue and UW-Seattle (Dad went there) Wisconsin Resident so also UW-Madison
Money not a major issue but scholarships are also nice
Carnegie mellon, U of Rochester, Georgia Tech, Case Western, Northeastern, RPI, Lehigh, UIUC, UT Austin, UMD CP, WPI, U of Minnesota, University of Colorado Boulder, U of Alabama will give you full tuition scholarship and Miami of Ohio will give you a good amount of money
Not planning on re-taking the ACT.
I would probably prefer more of a urban campus but open to anything at this point. Something without freezing winters would be nice though so I guess start there. Thanks for the reply.
I have to disagree with the comment above. While your stats are good, I think it is unrealistic to expect to receive a “full tuition scholarship” at most of the schools listed, and some are most probably reaches.
You should definitely look into Carnegie Mellon and U of Rochester, Duke, NYU, and technology schools (like Cal Tech, GIT, etc). Just search colleges on Collegeboard. They have college descriptions, SAT score ranges, and stuff.
@hopeyhippie I believe that @obsessedwcollege is referring to the fact that the University of Alabama will give a full-tuition scholarship, not necessarily all the others. UA gives their Presidential Scholarship to all applicants with at least a 32 and 3.5 GPA.
That’s exactly what I said. The commas between denoted what I was referrint to. As ColoredAlabaster stated U of Alabama gives a full tuition scholarship to anyone with the required states. Thank you for clearing it up ColoredAlabaster
UT and Georgia Tech aren’t matches if OOS. Maybe not even if in-state. Only way UT is a match for anyone is if you have auto-admit status. GT for CS is highly competitive, but if you get in would likely be right up your alley.
Edited to encourage you to add Tulane (likely good merit and good city environment) and USC to your list.
