help me decide for an ED school!!

AHHH!!! I'm in a crisis. I don't know which school to apply to first. I should be applying to a school that's clearly my first, but both schools are clearly my first.

Are you sure both are you first? If yes, then I'd say Stanford, since it isn't binding. BUT if UPenn slightly prevails, go ED - it definitely raises your chances. BUT do this only if UPenn is slightly higher in your books.

If it's business, then Wharton's probably a better choice. Of course, you'll be facing immense competition if you do so. It also depends on your preferences for a school. What type of environment do you like?

ECs are really good, as are awards. This alone could probably make you competitive. However, you're diagnosing your own problem when you say that your scores are too low because, while a 2100 isn't THAT low, your SAT IIs sure are. Those would potentially undermine your GPA since it would assume a less rigorous school. I would suggest cutting down your EC list to a list that is manageable. Don't put it all, and choose the "better" ones. As for chances, you're more likely to get into Penn than Stanford that's for sure, but provided you get those SATs up, you're very competitive in both. I would choose Wharton as well. If you want to major in business, choose it. It doesn't get any easier than right now anyhow.

Go for UPenn for the following two reasons:

(1) A Wharton business degree will carry you farther on your resume than an Economics degree from Stanford will (in general--although they are close), and
(2) For some reason Stanford admits a lot fewer Asians (4%) than UPenn does (18%), especially in relation to the number of applicants. I think this is because their cross-town rival (UC Berkeley) is like 41% Asians, so Stanford kind of positions themselves as the place for non-Asians to go without actually making this an issue in any of their literature or advertising. (Also, please note, this is not the case at the graduate level, just undergraduate).

I believe Stanford is 24% Asian on CollegeBoard.

Also, I know it wouldn't be too much of a difference, but Stanford has enough people from the West Coast applying there, whereas Ivies may be more receptive. Also, just because Stanford is 24% Asian doesn't necessarily mean its easy to get admitted as an Asian.

yay, thank you guys all SOOO much!!
