The NY opportunity UCI is connected with is a bug plus for sure - thanks!
I know two young, working actors who graduated from CSUF. Seems like a strong program as does UCI.
@AngeloT Hope this is all helping. Just an FYI after reading your response posts above, in order to respond directly to a post use the @ sign and then the posters name immediately after with no spaces as I did here with yours. You may get responses back that way.
@AngeloT We are also from Ca. My D is a junior in HS but I’ve done extensive research on the two programs you mentioned. I have many young (and super talented) friends who have gone to Fullerton and been cut after the first or second year. From what I am told, your freshman year is focused very heavily on dance so if dance is not your strong suit, you will be cut. Again this is only what I’ve heard. There are many Fullerton students on FB. If you’d like I can connect you so that you can research for yourself.
A good friend of ours just graduated with a BFA from Irvine and has nothing but wonderful things to say about the program. If you PM me, I can give you some details.
Have you looked into Santa Clara at all? Application deadline is May 6 I believe. It is a non-audition program with a BA in Theater and Dance (you can double major as well). They audition for scholarships I think but, from what I understand, they are VERY generous with $$. Cal Lutheran has a theater program as well and give an awesome scholarship to students who were accepted to UC schools.
Hope this helps in your decision and good luck!!
@AngeloT We know a boy who is a Freshman at UC Irvine in the Drama Dept. He has been cast in 2 shows this year, so it is not (or no longer) true that only the MFA students are cast. He also has been cast in his first professional show this summer. UC Irvine BA and BFA grads seem to work all over Southern California, as well as some of the people who have made it nationally, such as Beth Malone and Jenn Colella.
@Joyfulmama You screen name is so appropo - lol! Thanks for taking me under your wing and giving me some much needed guidance and support. I really appreciate EVERYTHING EVERYONE has shared with me. It has been a great help and helps to ease the stress. Appreciate you all.
@elsacc Thanks so much - your feedback is very much appreciated! Wish you well.
@bisouu Duly noted - thank you!
@stagedoormama The cuts at CSF are disheartening. I have looked at their curriculum and they do have a great program - I like what I saw, I got into the Honors Program so I wont be to affected by trying to get classes I need because in the Honors Program you get priority registration. Who needs/wants the stress and pressure that goes along with cuts or can it be motivating to work harder than ever is the question I will have to be honest with myself about when I answer it ?
@AlexaMT Thanks for sharing :-*
@achangeofheart Good point!
@AngeloT You’re welcome!
@lovetoact All great info - thanks
@elsacc Right on - good info - thank you
