Hey college confidential! ive been accepted to UCD UCLA UCB UCSB and im really confused about where i want to attend, money isnt a problem because i have outside scholarship and im low income so i got an ok financial packet from all four. I Got accepted into Davis Honors and SB honors and normal acceptance into UCB and UCLA. i want to do accounting or some sort of business undergrad and get an mba later on. The reason i haven’t decided is because im really not a competitive student and love a student body that is nice and supportive. Im also not that smart and am afraid of falling behind at berkeley and ucla because both places are full of overly smart people that would be setting the curve. The campus i would want i would like to be 1-good for my major 2-not impossible to excel at and get a good gpa for grad school 3- good social scene(nothing crazy, but usual fun) 4- somewhere i wouldn’t always have to be studying or worrying about being intimidated my the smart competitive people that i overly hear about at berkeley and lastly 5-a place where i can get the help i need and not feel stupid asking for it
UCB has not released their decisions yet so how can you have an acceptance? Were you interviewed for Regents? How can you claim you are not smart but received Honors at UCD and UCSB? All UC’s are competitive since the majority of the students are high achieving. Based on your description, the UC’s seem not to fit your requirements at all. Are there any smaller private schools that you applied?
Sadly no, it’s not that I’m smart, it’s just that I’ve been told that Berkeley is competitive, and I don’t want to be in that environment, I’m a relaxed student that does his work, my sat is 1680, that should tell you how low I am compared to many students at ucb,la…I’ve heard from Berkeley from a letter tha was sent to me
In reality, I love all the campuses, but I’m afraid of getting below a 3.3 for grad school
Then don’t go to Berkeley or LA, competition is stiff around there. I hang out in Berkeley cause my gf goes there and she’s always stressed about it. Even all her roomies complain about how Berkeley is competitive af.
