Currently deciding whether to transfer from my current college, Berklee College of Music to either USC or NYU. I have decided to leave Berklee to receive a broader education in media and communications with the intention to pursue a career in music industry (plus other entertainment industries). I have been accepted to NYU Steinhardt for the Media Culture and Communication major. I would begin at NYU Paris in the MCC Paris Program in the fall. I applied to USC Dornsife to be an American Popular Culture Studies major. I intend to apply to be a music industry minor at Thornton. My major concerns with USC is with the transfer student social life because housing is not guaranteed and I’m not sure how I could be properly integrated into the community with moving across the country knowing no one. How will I find my “people” and housing? At NYU I know we are a small group who will be in Paris and we all live in the same building and our classrooms are all in one bldg. I know NYC very well and family there. But I do think having a campus in sunny LA would be fun. Please help.
NYU seems like it will work for you. Why the hesitation?
NYU! You’ll have the amazing experience of study abroad with a smaller cohort of students you’ll get to know very well and returning to NYC with that group will make the transition into NYU in the city that much easier. Sounds like a great combination and opportunity!
