help me figure out my chances for uf please :)

I am a senior in highschool. I believe I have decent school statistics. I have a 4.0 unweighted, 5th in class, have taken/in the process of taking 8 ap classes, which I have all passed. I have taken almost none regular classes and many honors classes. I got a 1980 on my sat and then a 2100 on the second try.

Some negatives are my mere 80-ish hours of community service for giving music lessons to children, an average essay, and having a late app by a few days. I have no other extracurriculars of worth.

What do you guys think are my chances for being accepted to UF?

You’re probably in man.

My stats were similar to yours and I applied 1.5 hours before the deadline. How late did you apply though? If you applied after the deadline, then you’ll be evaluated on space-available basis…which means it will be tougher to get in.

did apply about a day after the deadline; it was quite foolish of me

isenior, did you apply for this year (fall 2012)?

Since you applied after the deadline and you have nothing but academics its going to be a crapshoot. I personally know a valedictorian that got a 2170 on the SAT that was rejected by UF for not having any reasonable extracurriculars on her app.

Do you even want to go to UF?

Yes, I want to go to UF.

I applied for Fall 2011. I suggest applying to other schools as well because your chances are not so high anymore.

Yeah, since the after-deadline applications are based on space available, it’s going to be really difficult for you to get in, I think. Applications have shot up 300% over the past two/three years. There’s 33,000 applications for about 10,000 acceptances. Good luck, though.

I highly doubt that.

The acceptance rate in 2009 was 44%. 2011 was 38%. I highly doubt it went all the way down to 30%.

The acceptance rate for 2011 was 38%. But with current applications projected at about 33,000, and projected acceptances of about 11,000(based on a slight reduction over last year because of a higher than expected yield) that would result in an acceptance rate of 33%.

Hard to believe you could miss the deadline. I would not be too happy about that if I were your father, especially given the fact that UF is a bargain from a financial standpoint.

My son, like you, waited until the last minute to to get his application in, but at least he got his in on time.

The late application may hurt you very badly. But who knows. They may simply throw your application in with all the others, if it is only a few days late. Or they may be strict, and say that a deadline is a deadline, and reject you because you missed the deadline. Only the admissions office would know the answer to this question.

Otherwise, based on your good stats, I think you are in. However, that being said, UF claims to do holistic admissions, so a lack of ECs could hurt you. But I still think you are in, even with so-so ECs, putting aside the issue of the late application.

To OP-
Unfortunately, I think that your late submission of your application, even by a “few days”, ( subject to interpretation) will affect you very negatively.
A point to consider-
My older brother is currently a senior @ UF, and he has always told me that UF
is “VERY STRICT” when it comes to official deadlines, such as the submission of any official documentation ! They make no exceptions. Sorry

i negotiated with the office and now i am not considered late :)

how did you negotiate with the office?!?!
