Hey everyone. So, I just got my November SAT scores back and I did better than I expected. I already applied to 6 schools and have 3 more I plan on finishing in the next few days. However, I'm weird (and have OCD) and would like to apply to ONE more school to make the amount of applications an even number.

APPLIED TO: Ithaca College, Fordham University, Marist College, SUNY Buffalo, SUNY New Paltz & University of Vermont. Will Apply to: Syracuse University, Boston University & Hofstra University.

I'm from NY.
94 weighted GPA freshman, sophomore & junior year. 99 1st quarter senior year.
1300/1960 SAT. 640 M, 660 W, 660 R
Pretty good EC's, secretary of 1 club, work experience... Good essays & teacher recs. 4 AP classes by graduation, & tons of enriched/honors classes.

What I'm looking for: nothing too specific I guess. I'd like to stay in the mid-atlantic/ new england area. I would like to be in a fun, interesting town or city. Originally I wanted to major in English and Journalism but not too sure (also like psychology & sociology). I would prefer a mid-sized school (5,000 + undergrads) but I'm not too worried about that.

Any suggestions? Just ONE more. It can be a bit of a reach as I think I have a good mixture in there.

Barnard College - Mid-Atlantic?: Check. Fun, interesting town?: Duh! Humanities?: Check. Mid-sized?: It’s affiliated with and contiguous to Columbia, so between the two campuses there’s 8,000 undergrads who can study and stay on either campus. A bit of a reach: The median SAT is around 1350 and your GPA is fine.

You may want to consider changing your screen name to “Dime Lane.” :)

Not sure Colgate would meet this criteria…it’s a small village, mostly centered around the university, and is rather remote. Hamilton College might fit the bill.

Octo Lane – LOL! BTW, OP, do you take Luvox? It was a lifesaver for me (without all the icky side effects of Anafranil). (We OCDers hafta stick together! BTW, my former endocrinologist [for Graves’ Disease] told me that a lot of doctors have OCD. It goes with a perfectionstic personality, which is not always a bad thing.)

Thanks for all the replies. My OCD sucks but no changing the user name LOL. (: LadyDianeski- I’ve had OCD for as long as I can remember, but my parents don’t want me on medication so I’ve found ways to deal with it as best I can but some things I can’t compromise on. I feel like it would be bad luck to apply to 9 schools, instead of 10. And I don’t want to remove 1, because I love BU & Syracuse and my parents insist I apply to Hofstra.

Very interesting suggestions everyone. There’s so many there that I haven’t even looked at.

I agree with the ones that said you should apply for a big reach! If not you could try Rutgers or Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. For a reach you could try at Wesleyan or some place similar.

@Penny Lane – pediatricians prescribe Luvox for kids younger than you. I hope your parents will reconsider. I understand their hesitation re meds – I’m scared of Ritalin and Accutane for kids, among other meds – but Luvox has very few side effects and, believe me, it works. Have been taking it for years with no ill effects whatsoever. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a miracle drug. :)

Best wishes, again, wherever you end up matriculating!
