Help Me Find Safety Schools?

I am having trouble finding safety schools that I would be happy attending. Would any of you like to suggest any for me?

I am currently applying to Vanderbilt (long shot but top choice so I am applying under ED1), UNC Chapel Hill (In-State student), Davidson College, and UNCW. After visiting UNCW, however, I was not very impressed, but I understand that I may very well not get into my top three schools so I need more safety schools. These schools also need to be financial safety schools whether through merit or need based aid.

I won't go into too much detail with my stats on the original post, but please let me know if you need anything else!
ACT: 30 (Retaking in Sept.)
SAT: 2140 (But I have an 800 in writing so my CR/M is only 1340)
GPA: 3.99
Work Part-Time since 10th grade
Proficiency at DECAs international conference (I have other ECs, but no others are at an international level or outside of my school)
AP Lang: 4
APUSH: 4

I am interested in studying English as a double major with either Communications or Marketing.

Any help is appreciated!

I forgot to add that I would prefer a smaller school with smaller class sizes. That being said, I don’t want such a small school that it lacks in opportunities. I would probably be happy with a larger school if I were in the honors school within the university, but I’m not sure which honors programs I could get into.

Small private safeties are difficult to find as safeties because their admissions is very holistic, so it’s hard to be safe. Try to find a small LAC that has good financial aid and early action. If you get in with aid you have a safety. Look for good LACs on this list
<a href=“2013 Colleges and Universities with Early Action Admission Plans | College Admission”>College Admission;
that are also on this list
<a href=“Need-blind admission - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need-blind_admission</a></p>

Off the top of my head, for EA schools consider Beloit, Centre, Dickenson, Earlham, Eckerd, Hampton, Hendrix, Knox, Lawrence, Rhodes.

UNC-Asheville is a well respected public liberal arts college. That’s definitely something you should consider. If you want to go out of state and want something with a low list price, consider Truman State in Missouri, University of Minnesota-Morris, or SUNY Geneseo in NY.

You will probably qualify for a very generous scholarship at Guilford, along with the colleges that ClassicRockerDad mentioned.

Elon might be a good safety and they have a nice communications school.

Thanks for your suggestions! I have looked a little bit into Guilford, but I saw on their website that they only have a 46% graduation rate in four years, which kind of made me stop looking at it. As far as merit scholarships, would I be a good candidate at a place like Elon? Or even the Honors program/scholarships at UNCW?

Belmont Abbey College, Wesleyan College (GA), U of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, U of Mississippi, U of Alabama-Birmingham.

In my experience, Elon has limited merit aid (up to $4,500/yr for their Presidential Scholarship) but a lower overall price than other schools, which still makes its price with merit competitive. They also have their Fellows programs, which offer more aid, but they require a separate application process and are more limited.
