I'm a high school junior looking for some schools to visit this summer. I want schools in the south, preferably a bigger school (no less than about 7,000). Colleges in tennessee, mississippi, arkansas, alabama, georgia, and louisiana are probably the ideal location. I go to a strong public school near memphis, tn.
have a 32 ACT, 1840 SAT (bad i know), played varsity soccer for 4 years (could get a scholarship but not sure if I want to play in college). I don't have a ton of good ECs but I do have some volunteer activities and I am a tutor for a study skills class everyday instead of going to study hall. I want to get as much as financial aid as possible, but would probably have to be mostly merit-based, because my dad makes a good amount of money. I've been to U of Alabama, and I really liked it. What are some other schools I should be looking at?

The term FA is used for financial need. Since your dad makes good money you’ll need to focus on merit aid. Certainly look instate (UT). Here are some options for schools with merit aid: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/848226-important-links-automatic-guaranteed-merit-scholarships.html

In driving distance: Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Wash U, UTK, GATech.

Not in my experience…YMMV.
