Help me find schools

Hello,

I have a few schools that I want to apply to, butIi still want a few more.
Can you guys give me some suggestions?

I want to major in Computer Engineering.

My highest SAT: 1410 ( 650 EBRW 760 Math)
GPA: 3.75/ 5.00

Courses I have taken/ currently am in:
AP Calculus AB
AP Calculus BC
AP Statistics
AP Biology
AP Physics 1
AP Chemistry
AP Environmental Science
AP Computer Science
AP Human Geography
AP World History
AP US History
AP Govt.
AP Macro Econ
AP Psychology
AP English Lang.
AP English Lit.
AP Latin
( I just listed them to show that I have a lot of rigor)

I have quite a few extracurricular, and have leadership in a good amount of them.

Can I get some safe schools, some match schools, and some reach school?

Some things I want in a school:

  • A descent engineering program
  • Football, and just sports in general
  • A recognizable name
  • tradition, culture, brotherhood
  • large school (>20,000)

I know there is a college match thing on the website, but I want input form actual people!

Thanks for the help!

It will be very difficult for people to suggest schools with no tentative list prepared. I suggest you use the SuperMatch tool found in the left sidebar to come up with matches, and post with that list.

Home State? What can your parents afford to pay each year? Any geographic limitations or specific locations?

@Gumbymom My Home State is Texas. My Parents can pay about half of an OOS full price. I would prefer not to go to school int the North.

@humanperson Schools I am thinking about are Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, UT - Austin, and Illinois - Urbana

Hm I’d say UT Dallas or Texas A & M, Univeristy of North Texas or Texas State or even UT Austin if you get your GPA to a 3.8 or 3.9

@katys0 I have those mainstream state schools on my list, but im looking other options, if you know what i mean.
TBH I dont want to remain close to home.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that my school does not have rank.

Where specifically do you want to go out of State? @SuperSumedh Maybe you should try researching UW Seattle or UC Davis, Irvine,If you want to go West.

@katy0 thanks! At this point I have no idea where to go. I’m quite open to suggestions.

California UC’s will cost $55K-60K/year with no financial aid and little merit aid so not an unaffordable option. If your parents will only pay 1/2 the OOS costs, do you qualify for need based aid or will you need to chase merit aid?

@Gumbymom Probably merit based

Probably merit

U Alabama is probably the most mentioned school on CC for merit aid and also seems to have a lot of what you’re looking for in terms of campus culture.
