I don't know why this is so funny or unbelievable. Even in the worst year for admissions, 2006 following Hurricane Katrina, Tulane had an acceptance rate of 39% compared to Emory's 32%.

That Tulane information is schocking. I got in with a huge scholarship and my SAT and ACT weren't that much higher than those reported averages.

But to the OP, if you can get your SAT up a lot, Dartmouth has a great foreign language program. But it's a reach for everyone...

Tulane clearly inflated their numbers...

"Tulane clearly inflated their numbers..."

I'm sure the admissions office is lying. They must have fabricated those SAT scores and GPAs. I'm sure they also lied about having to stop taking applications due to the large volume of applicants. If only they could be as selective as Temple...

Ouch......

Lol...its kind of funny that you think you have a good shot at those schools. But your scores are below average. When you think about it hundreds and thousands will apply to the same college but with higher scores and way better ec's. There are thousands of yearbook editiors and cross country athletes in the country. You just have to stand out.

P.S. I think being a big sailor does not make a difference

^ I don't know what you're bitter about but... those schools are possibilities. I never claimed that I was in for sure, I was just saying I have a shot that could go either way.

And obviously I'm not going to list all of my EC's and things that make me stand out, because I like to keep some confidentiality. I can think of a few things that make me unique.

P.S. Sailing is a plus... and it has helped some of my friends get in to college. Colleges like to see things their students are passionate about... and for me, one of those things is sailing.

I know someone who got into cornell, but was wait listed at bc and his stats were better. He had a close to perfect sat score, and his gpa was like 4.2.
I also know someone who was in the top 10% of my class and was wait listed at wake forest. My school regularly sends kids to top schools.

umm.. BC is definitely not a match. it's a very competitive school. I think that a couple good reaches for you would be NYU and Cornell.

I'll check out NYU and Cornell, thanks bdl108. I think my college counselor only classified BC as a match for me because I have around the same grades and scores of students who have been accepted there from my school... which might be very different for someone from a different school with different ties to BC.

College board reports totally different numbers than what the previous poster has been using.

There is something fishy about that 23% acc rate. It just does not make sense. Cannot wait to see how it affects the US News ranking of Tulane.

Even if these numbers may not be the most recent percentages, it is hard to believe, if not impossible that Tulane went from 43% to 27% in less than a year.
