hey guys, I need some help finding safeties and matches. To get a better understanding of me in general, here's what my counselor has told me are safeties and matches:
Tufts University (Match)
Vandy (Match)
Michigan Ann Arbor (Safety)

My favorite school right now is Yale, where I will apply SCEA. I need more matches and safeties to balance my list, and I'd like them to be in the eastern US.
Also, I want to go into premed, so they should be strong in that field.

ACT = 35, SAT II's are all in the 700's, EC's include 3 summers of cancer research. I go to a prestigious boarding school which doesn't rank, so I don't know where I stand..but my counselor says that I have good shots at ivies, so I assume it's good enough :)

I'd say Michigan is a "likely admit" but not a safety unless you're in-state; I keep hearing they've been a lot pickier with OOS applicants lately, possibly looking for some evidence you're actually interested and not just using them as a safety because your GC suggested it (something that really hurts their acceptance rate/selectivity ranking). And they weigh GPA more heavily than ACT/SAT, so that will matter a lot.

What are you looking for? Big school? Small school? Urban? Rural? Would you consider a women's school?

Knowing one school that you like and three more that your counselor suggested doesn't give us a better understanding of you. Think long and hard about your preferences--alternative, preppy, artsy, intellectual, etc.? Is prestige important? Geographic location, weather? Areas of academic interest?
