Hello Everyone, so I am about midway through my college selection process, and I am a little bit stuck. I would like to do a double major in business and music, and minor in film studies. (I know specific) I want a school near (less than 2-3 hours) Chicago, New York City, Boston, or other big cities like that in the northeast area. I would like a somewhat artsy school, but as little drugs as possible. I would like to live on campus, and I want the campus to be somewhat pretty, but that is not vital. Could you give me some safeties, matches, and reaches? I have been researching Boston College, University of Rochester, and Tufts.

SAT- CR- 740 (might get up) Math- 700 Writing- 730
ACT- 31 (might get up)
GPA (unweighted)- 3.90

EC- Cross Country, Vice President of Screenwriting club, Founder of Songwriting and Guitar Club, Track and Field, and more but these are my main ones.

Service- I do lots of random service with my church and school.

Thank you so much.

yo, Sunny, 20 minutes later you’re bumping us?! you’re a junior. chill.

the difficulty here is that you’ve asked for an unusual mix of criteria: business and music and film studies, northeast and midwest, artsy but no drugs, etc. give us a minute.

I can’t speak to all these things, but someone here probably will be able to help you.

Sorry about the bump, yeah I don’t really know how this works. just to clarify, I don’t really care about artsiness but that would be cool, if there has to be drugs to make a school artsy than no thanks, but of course all schools are going to have drugs. Thanks anyway!

SAT: Math- 660 (but I’m going to get it up) Writing- 720 CR- 750

These are your scores on your other post, sunny. Please clarify by telling us what your SATI score was or if you haven’t taken it. Best to work from where you are rather than where you might be. If your SAT improves big time, you can call the schools we recommend safeties.

NYU? It’s strong in all three of those areas. Do you want to be IN the city or just near a city?

What are your parents willing to pay?

Boston College, Tufts, Northeastern University, Boston Univ, NYU, Fordham, Georgetown, GWU, American, Temple, Drexel, Miami, Emory, Georgia Tech (if engineering type degree), Univ of Chicago, Northwestern, Marquette, and DePaul.

These are some of the top schools in or near major cities on the east coast (and Chicago because you mentioned it). Some of these are very expensive, some are very difficult to get into, and some are both. You should determine how much you can afford and start narrowing down the list from here.
