Since I saw the lose weight post i thought i would put up a self-help thread too. I know this isnt the ideal place to post this but CC is the only forum i go to.

I am 6' 4" and weigh 165-170, I feel like for my height i should be around 200 pounds but i eat alot and can't gain weight but I can't afford to keep buying weight gainer shakes and supplements/ prohormone etc. I also worked out every day for 6 months and gained 4 pounds lol

I would recommend that you look at this website:) Just take out the spaces that I incorporated before htm and com.

I’m in the same boat with Messiah. 5’10 and 125 lbs
I eat a ton yet I never manage to gain any weight. But it’s not like you can see my ribs or anything… lol

Everyone says they eat a lot and don’t gain weight. Eat more. I was 5’9 and 125lbs at the beginning of the summer and I’ve been forcing myself to eat bigger portions more regularly while working out (not intensely or anything) and I’m up to 134. Only a bit of that is muscle, but right now I’m happy enough getting out of the “you could be in a world vision commercial” category.

If you want a weight gain, go for muscle mass. You’d be better off staying at your current weight than eating to increase your fat percentage.

Here’s some helpful advice: if you’re working out every day, you’re doing something wrong. Increase the intensity, follow a safe program (or just recognize your body’s limits), and eat healthy food.

Remember, weight isn’t the sole indicator of your health. If you’re eating a lot and not gaining weight, you probably have a fairly quick metabolism. Nevertheless, you’re still consuming the fat, cholesterol, and other things that lead to poor health.

Yeah 99% of people who want to gain muscle mass make the mistake of working out too often, and not eating the right foods and the right time. I know because I did trial and error all of my sophomore year while I was trying to bulk.

Basically, you need to have some protein/carb intake before and after your workout, and not hit the same muscle twice in 48 hours, but when you do work out, work the muscle to the point of true fatigue. When you are working out, your muscles actually shrink, and they grow back over the next day, so your shooting yourself in the foot if you work out too often. And your shooting yourself in the foot if your not pumping sustenance into your system.

well with all the muscles you have to take care of it is hard not to work out every day. like legs, skip day, back bis, skip day, chest tris and maybe abs on the break days or what? when do shoulders come in?

I once needed to gain 10 pounds to get a Stratocaster. It didn’t work. No matter how badly I wanted to gain weight, I couldn’t. Sometimes you just can’t help it.

But I didn’t really work out or anything, I just ate alot of KFC and it still didn’t work.

I need to gain weight too. I need to bulk up on muscle. Badly. It’s really sad.

At one point I weighed 110 lbs, then I lost 11 lbs over the course of the school year (stupid teenage metabolism)…I hate being this much underweight. It’s noticeable. My 3’s and 5’s don’t fit me anymore. >>

This is really hilarious. Do you guys realize that the average supermodel (female) is about 5’11" and 107 pounds? There is clearly an opposite dynamic going on here.

before I was chubby, I tried to lose weight between 7-9th grade and I did. After that I became super skinny. Now Im trying to gain weight.
It works. When i go out to tennis, a guy told me that I have gained some weight; that I was too skinny before. So if you’re interested, here’s what I did:
Because in the summer I play tennis everyday, I’m free to drink a lot of sugar without worrying about my health. So if you’re skinny and want to lose weight, first step is to play a sport frequently, then you’ll get the cause to drink sugar juice without worrying about your health.
Eat a lot. Go to HEB or Walmart and get food. If you have the chance to go to food stall, get a lot, then eat them during the day. Remember don’t buy much of chocolate or too sugary food, mostly because you don’t want to eat them right after working out, you just wanna drink. So buy something with meat like Chinese dumpling or bread with hams. Basically everything but eat healthily.
Yup, that’s it
