Help me... help myself.

So I'm pretty much a sophmore really beginning to look at some college options, and feeling a bit glum over it. I pretty much need some advice in regards to what clubs/activities I should join/start. Yep. And a quick rundown on my chances of getting into a semi-good college or a decent one with a good scholarship. And one with a pretty good pre-med program.

Yeah, so I'm taking a couple honors course this year, and some AP too. I (think I) have a 4.3something gpa weighted and a 3.8something unweighted. This is due to a practical lack of real AP courses but hopefully it'll be higher next year on accounts of a .4 increase in the maximum.

I was pretty involved before HS (family matters led me to sort-of drop a couple things), but I had 8 years of Okinawan Matsumura Orthodox Shorin-Ryu and 4 of Kumon. I'd gotten some annual principals list award thing and honor roll and all of that jazz as well, as well as some other minimal stuff that is too unimportant to mention.

Unfortunately, I am currently not in any clubs (due to something partly out of my control) and am not an athlete/ president of the student body or anything. I do volunteer at a hospital/school 4-6 hours a week which'll hopefully lead to an 800 some hours by senior year. I'm also making plans for a doctorshadowthingy for the summer. And I'm in (somewhat) stupid things like NHS and all...

So my question is, what should I do? I'm not a super-social person and do not find much refuge in communities when compared to refuge in myself. Are there any clubs or positions that pre-med acceptors would be looking to take?

Disclaimer: I will not take offense for anything said to **

Just do what you want to do. I don't know anything about pre-med stuff, but just get out there and get involved. You know more about available clubs in your area than anyone on CC will.

I agree with MNKeeper, just do what u really enjoy! If you actually like it, then u will do well in it. And even it doens't neccesairly relate to medcine just try new things.

ha I do Kumon!!! (and i hate it btw)

anyways, yeah just do what u enjoy. Continue the volunteer work that you're doing, that will definately help. Maybe take some classes @ a local community college on human anatomy and stuff. Things like that. Whatever you feel will benefit you.;)

Someone please tell me exactly what Kumon is!!!

Kumon is an "independent learning center". They give you a whole bunch of worksheets and you sit there, do them, and leave. They also give you homework.

Basically, Kumon is Hell. I worked there for about 4 months, and the children there were so depressed that it brought me down with them, so I quit.

haha wow. that sounds horrible. i feel quite stupid, i took it to be some kind of sport that i have never heard of.
