I am a senior and I suck. I took the SAT in October and scored 1910. I took it again to raise the score in November but didnt think I did well so I cancelled it. I took it again today and I don't know how I did but my score probably won't change so much. Now I only have one more chance left, January SAT test. Some schools accept Jan scores whereas many others don't so I am taking a risk if I want to raise the score in Jan.

The only option left for me is to take ACT since I dont really have any chance at SAT before the deadline 1/1/10...but I dont know anything about it. When is the next test? And I have 1910 in SAT... I am actually going to study for ACT..How high can I aim for realistically?????

Please help me. I am stupid and desperate but I really want to go to a college of my choice.
I know SAT/ACT is not the deciding factor in admissions but I am a borderline applicant in general so high test scores would really help me.
Thank you.

First off, 1910 is not that bad.
Before deciding whether you should take the ACT you need to ask yourself some questions.
Which school do you want to go to?
What score on either SAT or ACT will help you get in?
Do you have time?

Now, the next ACT is Dec. 12th, which means you missed the registration deadline. The one after that is in Feb, and that will be after your application deadline.
Also, consider that you have to study and prepare for such test; I wouldn’t advise you to take it just for the sake of taking a test and maybe get a good score. That will cause you unnecessary stress.
You’ll just have to adjust your plans accordingly. This may not be the best situation but it is what it is.
I was in the same situation as you, but my SAT score was much lower, and it couldn’t get me into the schools I wanted so I’m doing community college for a year and then transferring. I’m not saying that you should do that, there are a TON of great schools that accept students with that score.
Remember: the SAT is just a test that determines how well you take the SAT. It does not determine intelligence or how well you’ll do in college. So stop degrading yourself and calling yourself stupid!

Also remember that you can try stand by testing for the ACT this Saturday. I did it once and got in so if you are that determined to take it then try that. I would call ACT to see what you need to take

my opinion, forget about the ACT
your SAT scores are very, very good.
with the right mix of ec’s etc and some luck it can get you in most anywhere
Princeton and Rice, Stanford and other big names have accepted even lower SATs when there is something else that is special. Of course, even with perfect scores, no top school is a lock these days.
If I were you, forget the ACT and focus on your applications…
Good luck

Thank you all so much for the replies…
I know 1910 is not an ‘I should go die’ score but I am an asian international student and all the other asians applying to colleges are D/A/M/N SMART and make my life so much miserable.!!!
I decided not to take the ACT but I will take the SAT again in January…My top choice school is u of M ann arbor along with UIUC and I R~~eally want to go there.

Your score will be probably around a 28-30 on the ACT. SAT vs ACT scores are generally very similar with the exceptions of some cases such as:

You missed most of the vocab questions on the SAT CR at the beginning or in the passage (obscure phrases).
Your SAT writing was below 8.
You’re good at analyzing graphs and comprehending information (science on ACT)
Very good at quick thinking.

If those were your worst parts of the SAT and those listed above are your strengths, your ACT will probably be significantly higher than your SAT score.
