help me improve this score; it's barely above the average SAT score...

I've taken 5 SAT Practice tests so far...and my scores have been:

test 1: 1460
test 2: 1560
test 3: 1600 (math - 480, cr - 430, writing - 620)
test 4: 1600 (math - 460, cr - 480, writing - 660)
test 5: 1640 (math - 510, cr - 530, writing - 620)

it's really frustrating to me that my friends get 2100+ and i can't even top 1700 yet.

what should i do? im really determined to improve, i get made fun of badly as well...and i look so stupid compared to you guys on this board.

i just bought the blue book from a store today, and barron's math workbook.

I feel your pain man 2 weeks ago i scored 480 on Math now i score 610+(its not that great compared to 800)

Princeton review helped me alot!

Cliff_hanger, try the ACT.

No, i'm staying with the SAT. I don't like the ACT...and I just bought 2 SAT prep books.

Bump.

Well you just bought the blue book. You probably in CR need a stronger vocab and you need to put 110% on reading the WHOLE passage and then answering questions (this should raise it to at LEAST a 650). Math you need to understand concepts. You really should use that blue book and the barrons one. For writing the blue book sucks. Find a book (i think mc graw hill is good) that shows all types of errors a sentence can have.

Thanks gyros321, yeah i know i need a stronger vocab, but for the reading usually i run out of time at the end and have 3 passage questions left. And then the next section's passage...if it's about poetry or some foreign person immigrating to the U.S. in 1920 and then talking about his/her experience, i get COMPLETELY bored, discouraged, and lose confidence after reading just the introduction. then i just don't feel like reading the passage, and with the result i think of how i ran out of time on the other section, and that i'll never get through this passage.

Try to make each reading exciting. Seriously. The more + additude you have to the passage the better it is. All science passages are generally enjoying to me. I HATE art passages and all poem passages but try to find 1 thing in that passage that you really enjoy. You HAVE to enjoy the passage in some way if you want to do well on the qustions. w/e you do don't get completely bored... you will score poorly.
