Help me make a list

Hello! Can you help me make a college list?

I am a rising junior coming from a rural Ohio high school. I currently have a 4.0 w/3.93 u GPA, and a 30 ACT score. (I’m hoping to raise both of these - goals 4.17 GPA & 33+ ACT)

I’m looking for a large school in a city or large suburb. Lots of action.

I would prefer to end up somewhere without snow; however, I am open to putting schools in Ohio & neighboring states.

My major choice is Engineering as of now.

My income bracket would be the lowest, so my parents could provide some aid but I know they would rather me pick an average school full ride than a prestigious school for none.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

If you need cheap schools definitely look at your in-state options for a start.

In addition, a lot of schools participate in MSEP which is a way that midwestern students can get discounted tuition in nearby states.

Univ of Alabama if you can get the big scholarship. Ohio State of course.

Current list: (all considered)

UCLA
UC Berkeley
Georgia Tech
UT Austin
Ohio State
Pitt
UWash
Alabama
Indiana

I would recommend Drexel. Drexel is a school with not a lot of sports/spirit and you have to be ready to work hard when you go there. Drexel has co-ops where you pick either 1 or 3 co-ops, 1 co-op is 4 years and 3 is 5 years, it will help you get a job experience while you’re studying and earning money as well at the same time and you do get paid as any engineer would and it will be easier for you to get a job after you graduate. And personally what I love about Drexel and my reasons to apply there is it’s in the city so I won’t have to worry about being bored/bringing a car on campus, there co-ops are really good and it’s in the city so there are many engineering opportunities for you to co-op while you’re at college( I will be a nursing major) it will also give you experience and will be easier to get a job after I graduate and will be earning money as well! Yes it’s a expensive college but they offer 100% financial aid to all freshman. First year yes it’s expensive and after that once you start co-ops you won’t be paying for the co-ops but just the university fees. You have to be ready to work hard when your at Drexel. Good luck(:

UCLA/UCB as an out of state applicant offers little to no financial aid so expect to pay $60K/year to attend. If you are low income, strike them off your list.

@dhd713 The college life with sports and all is important, however I will definitely consider Drexel for the options!

@Gumbymom I know that I can get some money, but my family would rather me go to a cheaper option so I probably will have to scratch. Thanks!

Case Western Reserve University?

I definitely think that Ohio State is the best in-state option, while Washington would be my favorite.
