Help me make my decision (sorry...UCLA vs UCB again)

No, I haven’t yet- I’ll go check now. But Nic, did you get the play on words above? I thought it was clever!

Just a question to those of you who are still trying to decide between Cal and UCLA… Did you guys submit transcripts through Fall 2009 to both schools?

OOOOH Evan hahaha that is very clever!!! haha I didn’t notice at first. Pretty skillful I must say!

hahaha I almost responded saying I didn’t get it, but at the last moment - I saw it. haha that was great man!

@ UCcasualty: Yeah, I’m going to send my transcripts to both I think. I’ll hopefully be sending them today or tomorrow.

Awesome! P.S., Awesome video you posted. I look forward to choking someone during karaoke as part of my UCLA experience.

HAHAHHAHAHAHA evan good one. See emil he makes a point.

Emil, you have to realize that UCLA is a
Very good school for psychology as well.
And to answer your question on fb, yes I am going to UCLA.

Even SFwarrior saw the
Very clear message.
Awesome = UCLA.

End this pointless debating. You are lost in the
Void of thought. Its unproductive. Pledge your
Allegiance to UCLA NOW

LMAO you guys are terrible!

This is getting out of hand. :frowning: off to school.

I’m with SFWarrior. Pledge!!!

Yeah! Give into peer pressure! All the cool kids are doing it*

*Going to UCLA.

Emil, is being attacked! LMAO

Emil, there is only two types of people in the world: (1) Bruins; and (2) those who wish they were Bruins. ;)

U-C-L-A - Fight Fight Fight!

lol i am a little ■■■■■■■■ and i got that message!

lol Nicky is getting subliminal messages…

Here’s one for you, Jane.

Too many
Reasons to
Ignore the sheer awesomeness of UCLA.

Get it?

lol yes i get it
everyday would be
very cool with team
anthro and i would
never study alone
!

arcadefire- just curious if you SIR’d to UCLA & if you ever received a response about gpa req for your last semester…

Nay, I didn’t SIR yet. I’m not as decided as I pretended to be a couple days ago. Not a specific response, but it sounds like as long as you don’t fail anything or get more than a ‘C’ or two, you’re probably ok.

Bumped for last minute persuasion any which way.

UCLA -
I like the campus better
I like the area better
Seems more fun
Great fit
I don’t like the program for my major there
Stuck taking a lot of engineering type classes I don’t want to take

Berkeley-
The perfect program for my major
More freedom in my course selection
Higher ranked for my major (top 3 vs. top 15)
Might be cool to move somewhere totally new
Didn’t like the area as much as UCLA
Felt a little uncomfortable there, but that might be due to being so far away and on my own when I went to visit
Too competitive/nerdy?

The pros and cons seem to balance each other perfectly. Terribly hard decision for me.

do post as soon as you SIR i am curious where you picked. its been a long decision process kid.
good luck to you :)

Alright, this caught my eye so I’ll throw something in for you. I just turned in my SIR to Cal a couple of hours ago after spending weeks banging my head against the wall trying to pick between Cal, Stanford, and UCLA. I only read the first post and your most recent so forgive me if some of this is repeat stuff.
If you don’t like the program at UCLA, go to Cal. Period. If you don’t like the program you won’t do as well, plus there’s something to be said for semesters over quarters. I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere in your analysis, don’t forget it’s a huge difference! If you want a social life, semesters will make it easier (from what I’ve been told) because quarters blow by so damn fast you don’t really have time to put off your studies.
As to the whole hot girls no hot girls thing… c’mon bro. I love So Cal, and I spend a hell of a lot of time at clubs in Hollywood and LA, and I gotta say our girls are overrated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of talent down here. But I hit some clubs up that way and Nor Cal isn’t exactly lacking in that department.
Did you shop the area enough to give it a real chance? During my visit I spent a lot of time in SF, Oakland, Richmond, and Concord just seeing what’s out there. Emeryville too, it’s a little town just south of Berkeley and there are a lot of shopping centers and stuff that reminded me of LA. Although I might’ve crossed into East Oakland at that point, not really sure. Anyway, the area is pretty cool. And don’t worry about friends, I was kind of worried about leaving all my friends and family behind to move up there but in the two nights I spent I have like twenty numbers of people to text when I get up there. People up there are just friendlier. Apparently we’re all just a bunch of **holes down here.
Think about this. You’ve got two years of undergrad. You have a chance to go to a higher ranked school, with more prestige, and cut the theoretical chord to LA. You know how many people live and die down here? Without ever leaving? It’s sad. Get the hell out of here for a couple of years, yeah it’s still in Cali but it’s surprisingly different and you get to experience something brand new. You can always fly down here for a weekend, if you book the flight 30 days or more out through Southwest Airlines it’s only about $80 round trip. Seriously. And who cares if it’s competitive, you (I assume) worked your off to get in to one of the best schools in the country, were you planning on not trying when you get there? Competition breeds success!
Good luck making your choice buddy, it was the hardest decision I ever made. But the second I submitted that SIR to Cal and started getting the congrats from my friends and family I felt right. GO BEARS!
