<p>You may want to reclassify those schools where you would need a competitive merit scholarship to afford them. For example, you have Pittsburgh as a safety, but since you need the competitive full ride to afford it, it really should be a reach or match based on the scholarship, not admission. Similarly, Georgia Tech is a reach because you need the top level full ride scholarship, not merely admission. But Alabama could still be a safety if you get a Pell grant and they allow stacking it on top of the automatic full tuition + $2,500 scholarship.</p>
<p>It’s a well thought through list. I wouldn’t change it. And I would “pay” the extra fees beyond the limit of 8 your Mom has agreed to. Apply to all of them. You need the additional options that going beyond 8 provide. In practice many students with your stats apply to 10-13 colleges. And because of your financial needs you need to apply to more than 8.</p>
