Help me out a little: RPI, UR, CMU

The two colleges that I seem to have identified as my best matches are Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and University of Rochester to major in engineering, but I would like to check my chances and make sure this is a reasonable view. Two reaches that you could maybe chance me on too are CMU and Cornell. I haven't taken the SAT Subject tests yet, so if it is getting kind of late and they are required for any of these schools, let me know. I know you need them for Cornell at least. Also, my safeties are SUNY Buffalo and RIT. Anyway, here's some info about me:

Education:

SAT:
Math - 690
Verbal - 650
Writing - 670

These were on my first try. I will likely retake them in November or December, but my applications need to be sent in just a few months. I haven't taken the ACT. Is that advisable?

Weighted GPA: 102.28
Unweighted GPA: 98.87
Class Rank: 1 of 92

Significant College Courses: JCC English 1510, 1530, 1540; JCC History 1540; JCC Math 1710 - 19 Credits (JCC = Jamestown Community College)

No APs; my school doesn't offer any.

Hopefully that is enough information to form a decent estimate. Comments and feedback are much appreciated.

first of all… i DONT GET why u think rochester if your match.
with your STELLAR GPA, you should certainly be trying for Cornell, esp since ur legacy.
furthermore, even though ur sat is not that graet, u still have 3 mroe chance to take it.
if iwere u i’d retake and aim for the higher tier schools :D

lookin’ good for your schools.

I’m retaking in the SAT in Dec and taking the ACT then as well. Kinda late, I know, but I’ve been putting all this stuff off because I’ve had such a busy schedule (and such a relaxing summer^^).

I’m really aiming for CMU, I think, though truthfully, I think I’ll end up at RIT because of financial reasons.

You’re probably in at RPI (I hate to put percentages on chance so I won’t), judging from students that I know who are attending.

Yeah, I feel like my SAT score is probably my weakest point, but even that fits in the average range.

My courses might not be a strong point either, but I’m taking basically the hardest classes available at my school… they just don’t have any ap/ib’s.

Cornell - so close… you should’ve taken the twos so you could apply… if you had i’m confident that you have a good chance
CMU - high match
URochester - match~in
RPI - match~in
RIT - in
SUNY Buffalo - in

you can chance me too! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/792948-chance-me-priority-nyu.html</a></p>

Yeh, there’re a lot of things I wish I had done differently. CMU doesn’t require the twos do they?

CMU does require the SAT 2s for most schools…I’m assuming you’re applying to CIT (Carnegie Institute of Technology), which means you will need the 2s. See testing requirements for the others here: [High School Counselors](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University)

And with regards to your chances, you look good for all of those schools. You even look like you’d have decent fighting chances at CMU and Cornell.

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/795732-low-gpa-good-everything-else-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I’d be going for engineering, so I guess I would need them? durn.
