Well, I'm lost right now. I only received financial aid info today, so it wasn't my choice to leave this decision until last second. I'm an in-state Virginian who is majoring in an engineering field.

COST aside(full scholarships to both universities), which university would you pick?

I like UVA because it offers the specific major I am looking for(systems engineering), but I am not entirely sure of what major to stick with.

On the other hand, Duke is more prestigious.

I like both places and people equally. Which will set me up best in your view?

Thanks.

Duke is amazing and so is UVA. Which vibe did you like more when you visited?

And if it is that close, think about convenience of getting there, the attractiveness of the student population, social organizations. Of course these are only minor, but when the major factors even out these are cool to look at.

I can’t even say which vibe is better because the people at both universities are amazing haha. You definitely brought up some good points, though, and I’m gonna reflect on them in the next hour.

good! good luck! also think about food, club/ intramural sports, greek life availability etc.

Go to Duke. Not because it is more prestigious, but because it will get you farther from home and probably has a more diverse student body.

Duke. You dont have to major in systems eng’g to be a systems engg…many are EE or other disciplines.

Duke. Live a little. Congratulations on the scholarships. Nice work.

Congratulations on both acceptances and offers.
Based on the info you have provided, you will do well in both schools, but you can only go to one.
So, Duke would be my pick here.
Best of luck to you.

DUKE! Great engineering school and amazing school in all respects. Congratulations!

Duke is more isolated and less diverse. UVA is plenty prestigious. Go with your gut.

What?? Duke is in the Raleigh-Durham research triangle of NC. UVA is in a college town several hours from the nearest big city. Duke is only 47% white, while UVA is 60%.

Duke. Hell, it’s further away, but more prestigious, more opps, more vibrant life, all that jazz…

Congrats man on the full rides. Hopefully your luck rubs off on me.

After researching, I realized that it would be somewhat foolish to turn down a chance at Duke with the offer they have provided. If I had to pay full price, I have chosen UVA.

So, I’ve decided on Duke as of 5 minutes ago. Likely the hardest decision I’ve have ever had to make, and I know I couldn’t go wrong going either way. Thanks so much for the input!

Good luck to you!!

Duke is going to open more doors for you, I’d think. The prestige can be rather helpful.

You found out just today for at least one of the schools that you received a full scholorship?

Duke is an amazing school! Congrats!
