Hey guys. I'm currently a junior in high school and I really want to attend West Point.

I'm not sure if my chances in getting accepted is good or not
so I decided to make an account on this site. If you guys could help me out, it would greatly be appreciated =].

I'm currently living in North Jersey [Bergen County] and am Korean-American.
I will be attending the SLS this year.

590 CR. 660 Math. 570 Writing

Sports:
-Basketball for three years. By the time I graduate, I will have 2 Varsity Basketball letters.
-Track for two years. By the time I graduate, I will have 3 Varsity Track letters.

I'm worried that my SAT's and other weak points in my resume will hurt my chances for admission =T [any suggestions?] Thank you in advance for you help.

P.S. When should I start sending letters and such in order to compete for nominations?

josh, you didn’t say, but I am assuming you are retaking the SAT and the ACT? You need to get those scores up to be competititve. Are you good enough to play either sport at USMA? If so, fill out the athletic questionaire on the athletic site. As far as your nominations, you need to look at the MOC websites and follow their directions. Most people begin this process in the summer or early fall. Deadlines are usually October-ish, but they vary by state.

josh - if you are going to SLS then show up ready to take the CFA and do well on it. This will be one less part of the application for you to worry about.
The info is here:

Prep really well for the next SAT. Also try the ACT. Some people tend to do better on one test rather than the other. If you can’t take a prep class, or are better off working on your own, try using the methods described in this thread. Many people claim quite a bit of success using the techniques.

Get the info from all of your nomination sources so that you can begin getting your various essays together over the summer. Let your English, Math, and Chemistry or Physics teachers that you would like them to write reference letters for you. Find out if there is a way to reach them over the summer so they can do it when they have the time. You may need coaches to write letters also. Just give them a heads-up.

Good luck and have a blast at SLS! As JAM4 says, if you can pass the CFA this summer, you’ll get to check one item off the to-do list. This would be so helpful to you next fall.

hey guys. thanks for all this useful information =]

i’ll definitely be studyig hard this June’s SAT’s~
