nat'l merit scholar (pretty high psat score)
2x nys scholar athlete

i'm lookin at carnegie mellon, umich, tufts, boston college, and nyu. how does it look for me?

Why take the SAT again?

Your score is fine for these schools, and they like it when a kid takes it once and gets a good score right off the bat. The kids who take it again and again and again aren't looked on as favorably.

Apply. You'll get into at least half of them. (Carnegie Mellon might be tough though)

Finally, someone realistic. You should get into most!

Thanks for the input. If anyone else can tell me how else I could improve chances at these colleges I'd appreciate it.

Uh - retake. Retaking is fun.
