Help me out with the dorm selection...

I was admitted summer b with all the freshman but because I already completed my AA in high school I'll have a junior standing at UF.

So what should be my strategy when picking dorms? Should I still stay with all the freshman in Broward or Rawlings? My application date was 11/13. I will take most of my classes at Turlington Hall.

My choices for summer b:

Fletcher - close to class, ben hill, o'dome, advising, gym - 39% first year/61% upperclassmen

1) Murpree - close to class, ben hill, o'dome, advising, gym - 39% first year/61% upperclassmen
2) Sledd - close to class, ben hill, o'dome, advising, gym - 39% first year/61% upperclassmen
3) Yulee - close to class, pool, broward beach, and dining - 64% first year/36% upperclassmen

and

My choices for fall:

Broward - close to class, pool, broward beach, and dining - 89% first year/11% upperclassmen
Mallory - close to class, pool, broward beach, and dining - 64% first year/36%
Rawlings - close to class, pool, broward beach, and dining - 89% first year/11% upperclassmen
Riker - medium distance to class, o'dome, ben hill, mudfest - 58% first year/42% upperclassmen
Simpson - not so close to class, pool, and dining - 91% first year/9% upperclassmen
Tolbert - medium distance to class, o'dome, ben hill, mudfest - 58% first year/42% upperclassmen
Yulee - close to class, pool, broward beach, and dining - 64% first year/36% upperclassmen
Weaver - medium distance to class, international, o'dome, ben hill, mudfest - 58% first year/42%

Help me select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice dorm for each semester or just elaborate on a dorm

thanks

I was also admitted to Summer B term. Being that housing apps. are due March 2, would it be considered too late to send them out in the next few days?

I’m going for probably Murpree for summer, heard good things about the dorms.

Summer B:

1) Murphree - Probably will not get, but worth a shot
2) Yulee
3) Fletcher

Fall:

1) Tolbert
2) Yulee
3) Rawlings

beaty rawlings broward jennings are the most social location. lakeside is comfortable but far as heck. hume is for honors. my sister said dont stay in tolbert and she graduated from uf 2 years ago. just saying^^

Broward and Jennings are the best for freshmen I have heard.

I heard that Hume is not honors during summer, and really nice dorms.

Tolbert hall specifically or just the Tolbert area?

I am visiting family in G’ville this Saturday. I’ll be checking out most of the dorms on campus and pictures will be taken.

Stay tuned…

I heard Graham Area was a nice and social dorm…

i found the idea of ‘social dorms’ to be grossly overrated. the friends who last tend to be those you meet through common interests rather than where you’re thrown into.

the murphree area is my recommendation because its cheap and closest to everything.

Orange!..Blue!, you won’t be able to get inside the dorms to take pictures unless you know someone in there. You won’t even be able to get on the floors.

There is one dorm room for touring and it’s over in jennings. When you walk into the main building just ask at the desk. They’ll unlock the door and show you the room. It’s one of the rooms that has been redone in Jennings. Redone meaning, painted, new floors and new windows.

gatormomma, I know a few different people living on campus and they’ll let me look around a bit and take pictures

Besides the dorms like Hume, Lakeside, basically all the apartment/suite-style dorms, it seems like the layout doesn’t really matter from dorm to dorm.
I’m personally choosing based on location, population, and ‘Learning Communities’.

My choices are:

 1. Weaver Hall (International House, decent distance to classes)
 2. North Hall (Pre-health community). Also not so far from classes.
 3. Broward (typical freshman dorm, close to classes)

I have no idea if these “Communities” actually help or are active, but in case it does, it sounds good.
However, I turned in my $25 fee the day after being accepted, so I probably won’t get my choices, but better to choose than not at all, right?
