help me pick a college! Kelley School of Business vs. Neeley School of Business

My top two schools are TCU and IU.

TCU- admitted as a pre-business major (no direct admit). The school is just under 9,000 students, so very community like feel. They’re redoing their business school, so it’d be done by my sophomore year. Received a large scholarship, but would be about $40,000 a year. Campus is beautiful. I’m from the midwest so I’m concerned about the connections that alumni and the school have that are not in the dallas/fort worth area. Seems like a great fit for me.

IU- got direct admit into The Kelley School of Business. Only received about 2k a year, so would be about $49,000 a year. School is beautiful, but over 45,000 students. Kelley has slightly over 6,000. A little concerned about the heavy party scene. Ranked top 10 business school in the nation.

Worried that if I don’t go to IU I’d miss out on all the opportunities the business school provides, but love the feel of TCU.

*money isn’t a factor in my decision

Kelley is much more prestigious. It might be a good choice to go there. I don’t know much about TCU, but TX is a prosperous state so there are more job places after graduation.

TCU sounds like a good job - you get private school amenities for less than the cost of IU, and while TCU’s business school reputation is more regional, it happens to be in the region that has known the greatest growth in the 21st century, so I would not worry about it.

If you know you want to study business having the direct admit is a big deal and that plus the strength of Kelley might push me in the direction of IU.

But if your heart is at TCU you should first research/consider:

  • How easy or difficult it is to get admitted to the B-school at TCU? What percentage of students get in, what type of GPA do you need etc.?

–If you don’t get into the b-school would you be satisfied pursuing a non-business major at TCU?
–Do you want to work in TX after graduation? I think TCU has more of a regional reputation as compared to Kelley.

If you can afford to visit both on accepted students day it might give you an opportunity to ask some questions and see how you feel about the two options.
