help me pick a major

I'm a senior and I've begun the college application process, and i'm having a hard time picking majors (which makes it hard to finish the applications, haha). My dad has outright told me that he will not pay for my college if I go in undeclared (he has his reasons, I understand and accept them), so i'm trying to pick something (he is strongly pushing engineering).

Now about myself: In high school, I've always enjoyed math. I've taken all the upper level math courses my school offers (which is very few), and I'm taking ap Calc AB this year and love it (luckily, I have an amazing teacher, which makes it even more enjoyable). I've also enjoyed my english classes. I'm not crazy about reading poetry and older ficiton works (think shakespear), but I really enjoy writing, and I enjoyed the essays we read last year in AP english lang comp more than I thought I would. For the sciences: I hated 9th grade bio (******* of a teacher), loved honors 10th grade chem, and took antaomy/physiology last year. The videos about how the human brain works and some of the surgical videos we watched fascinated me (plus, I've always liked disecting things), so I'm thinking med school might be for me. However, i've also considered careers in law and federal law enforcement (the whole idea of being an FBI agent is pretty rad, if you ask me), so I really have no clue what I want to become.

All said, what would you suggest I major in? I've considered in majoring in something sciency for med school, but I'm leary of doing so because I enjoy writing. I've also considered math or bioengineering (though I don't think I'm competitive enough to get into a good bioengineering program at a UC, so I'd probably have to do it at Cal State SLO or Long Beach).

Thanks for your help!

1.) Engineering is HARD. Don't do it unless you love it.

2.) Medical schools, in the end, won't discriminate for or against any majors except that you want to avoid anything "vocational" -- exercise physiology, physical therapy, nursing, etc. Pick a liberal arts discipline like biology or economics or English or something like that.

3.) Beyond that, pick a subject purely for the purposes of appeasing your parents now so that you can hurry up and apply to college. You can change once you get there. I suggest Economics or Biology -- not as actual majors in the end, but just as things-to-declare to keep your parents off your back.

good idea. thanks.
