<p>I don’t think your scores and GPA are strong enough for Brown (even with legacy), JHU or Vanderbilt. Also, UVA and UNC are extremely tough if you’re OOS–unless your high school has a special relationship with them. Can you retake the SAT? What is your class rank? That matters more than your GPA. If your school doesn’t rank then it would be helpful if you could estimate it because admissions is going to be comparing your grades to other applicants from your high school. Do you have any hooks? You are international?</p>
<p>OP, NROTC has given you a realistic list. Your GC’s, other than SMU, is not in my opinion realistic. However, the GC knows your school’s history and so I would give his advice more credit than mine, if I were you. I hope the GC is correct. Lea’s suggestions are not realistic, and that is not a surprise since she’s not been thru this process yet. Few h.s. students on CC have a realistic and accurate sense of what is possible, something to be aware of when you go to the chances forum.</p>
