I'm currently trying to decide which school to enroll at, and I simply can't come to a decision! I unfortunately wasn't able to go the the Taft revisit because I was attending a revisit at another school that day (big mistake) so I really don't know anything about the general school atmosphere, the students, or any of the classes. I have gone on a tour, but it was kind of rushed and I only got to see the buildings. (classes were already out)

I was able to go to the revisit at Williston, and while I did enjoy the students, I did not find the classes particularly challenging (I was sitting in classes that I would be taking next year). Since I have only really experienced one school, I can't really make a decision because I can't assume what Taft is like.

If anyone has attended either of these schools or knows anything about either school, your help would be greatly appreciated. :) A general overview of everything regarding the school would be nice, but if specific topics would help, I'm curious about the social (student life), academic rigor, school atmosphere, athletics, student support, matriculation, etc.

Thank you! :)

Hmm… i thought deadline for contracts and deposits were a couple of weeks ago.

There’s a thread of a junior at Taft answering questions. For some more information, you can ask him or her (not sure).

Taft is a much, much better school. think of it this way, i toured Taft, Andover, and Williston just thinking it would be a safety. i realized that its not even worth applying to. Taft and Andover’s academic levels are alot higher than Willistons. btw, i am going to Taft next year.

Yep, no comparison in terms of academic rigor. You will be working hard at Taft, no doubt. It’s the stronger choice, but since you haven’t visited…you’re going to have to take our word for it.

Just do a search for “Taft” and you’ll find a lot of threads about it this year. If you can’t decide with all the comments I’ve made and others have made as well then do Williston.

For the record - my daughter loves Taft and so do I. But waiting until this late date to dig up information has me scratching my head and there are a lot of kids on the waiting list who would jump at the chance to have the spot.

Thank you all for your replies! Most of them were very helpful.

Statistcally and “prestige-wise,” I would definitely choose Taft. Often times Williston is considered a back-up school for most people, however it’s still a great school. It’s all about fit.

Putnamehere - I wasn’t picking on you. I was approaching this like an Adcom - which is to say - there are a lot of threads on this topic - in fact many talking about details of campus life, applications etc. What has been cluttering the threads are duplicate posts by multiple students asking for information already provided. So the comment was valid. Boarding schools expects a lot of research outside the classroom.
