help me, please! (sort of urgent)

hi, i know this is really presumptuous to post here and expect an answer in 24 hours or less, but here it is. i'm sort of in desperate straits.

i'm pre-med, and currently enrolled in an english class where i know i'm getting a b+. actually, most everyone in this class is getting a b+, the prof's a hard grader, etc. this is more likely than not going to be my final grade...and tomorrow's the last day for me to drop. so! the question is...will a b+ really look that bad? does my situation qualify for dropping the class, in lieu of looking better when it comes down to apps?

(if i don't take this class at my school here, i'll probably take it at another uni when i get home, which will doubtlessly prove easier.)

i'm so clueless when it comes to med school and how to weigh in on these sorts of things...i'm absolutely useless, please help!

In my opinion, I think you should stick with it. The only way I would drop a class is if I was in danger of failing it. If you drop the class, will it come up as a W? I've heard from my advisor and upperclassmen that a dropped class raises a red flag during the admissions process. Just try hard and try to get it to an A- (a B+ isn't that bad). Last semester I had a C, at midterm, in chemistry and was contimplating dropping it, but then I decided to try a new study routine and ended up with a B+.

If I were you, I wouldn't do it, but then again that's just one man's opinion. Good luck.

thanks!--i forgot to add, it won't come up as a w. the class just disappears into thin air, rather, hurrah. but will med schools think it incongruous if i took a semester of english at one university and got a b (already done and over with, what can i do), but then took a semester at another and got a better score?

It's not going to kill you to get a B+ in an English class. I don't know what your GPA is but getting a B once in a while is okay. Really.

right. but on the general premed threat, they make it seem like a life-or-death situation.

Remember that non-science courses are separately categorized from the math and sciences. MCAT scores are top, followed by science/math GPA, followed by everything else (including non-science GPA's).

Keep the B+ (you might not do better in round 2) and go prep for the tests and interviews.

Stay with the class. Get the B+ or work your tail off to bring it up to an A- at least...it all depends on how you are in your other classes, i'm sure you are doing well in your science courses, and if that is the case, than you have a sort of cushion and a B+ wont do much.

b+ arent badd... in fact they r fine

if ur gpa is high - then they wont care at all

if ur gpa is low - then they will take a very close lok at specific grades... looking for >b's

b+ in english is fyneeeeeeee

not really, just my opinion tho :P
for premed it isnt at least.
