I am having so much trouble deciding over u of m ann arbor, nyu, and wellesley. as i live in michigan, my parents want me to go to u of m. people else where think it's a great school, but i don't really know how great it is since it's right next to me and everyday i think of it as "just a school". i know u of m has lots and lots of great programs, but nyu also has a pretty good business school stern. all in all, i want to go to wellesley for the experience. the mit cross-registration program sounds pretty interesting to me, and it'll be a great way to meet intelligent guys, as wellesley girls are "supposed" to be better than mit girls to date.

reading about the interaction is truely fascinating; an all girls school cooperating with mit -- with 58% boys and 26% asian out of 4132 undergrad student body, making that approximately more than 500 asian guys hahaha okay maybe i'm being shallow about this.

i am truely tormented. i am so bummed that i didnt get into hyp since that would make this decision much easier, or rather kind of harder, but then i would'v been really happy, but anyhow, i want a good academic program, and i think u of m is pretty good but wellesley is good too and i just don't know who's better: LIBERAL ARTS or NATIONAL

postundergrad... what are my chances of getting into good grad school like stanford or harvard if i went to wellesley or u of m?

xo etc, what's the financial comparison to your family? Fullfare at Wellesley or NYU versus in state tuition at Michigan is night and day. Is this a factor in your parents' opinion?

If the money is more or less equal (or affordable) then I'd say follow your inclination to go to Wellesley OR NYU. There's really no good reason not to.

A zillion years ago I went to UMich and never even thought of going anywhere else. It just wasn't done -- or at least was very rare -- at my Michigan highschool. The smart kids went to U of M, the other kids went to State or another local college. Out of a graduating class of over 1000, only 2 or 3 kids went out of state. Fast forward 35 years, I no longer live in Michigan, but I certainly included UMich on my son's college tour. He agreed it's a tremendous school (and it is, it is!), but he personally preferred the LAC experience.

So, if money is not an issue, I'd say follow your dreams. Now for the choice between Wellesley and NYU. . . I'd have to know more about you before speculating which is better for you as they are very, very different environments. Wellesley has a somewhat better academic rating than NYU, but the key point is to choose the place where you would fit in best.

Students from all three perform very well at graduate and professional schools. This really needn't be your determining factor.

im getting a pretty good finacial package from all the colleges. when it comes down im paying about the same for umich in state and wellesley... wellesley gives me $41000 in aide, with 38000 of it being grants and i got a scholarship too, but umich is only giving me a small grant since their tuition is only 7-8000 to begin with. so i end up paying around $2-3,000
