I am back again requesting your help.
I am taking the Biology E/M test next January and I'm planning to study the Barron's Book!
Now, I haven't taken the AP course and I literally hate biology, but I have to take it anyways.
My point is : I need a plan to study! I got too much school work and I need to get good score on the next exam of the SAT subject test. Let the plan be really good! I need experienced answers please. Like what should I start with? Where should most of my focus go? And I need to finish this book in 10 days ! Cover to Cover :) PLEASE help me out I got 420 on Biology M :( help !

Just study the Barron’s book. Everyone said that the Barron book is so much harder than the actual exam, so once you finish through that book with good analysis of what you did right and wrong, you should be fine. Maybe a sparknotes chart thing of the Bio SAT II for the last week before the actual test to keep your mind fresh and stuff. Not much else we can do man

If you memorize the book, then you’ll definitely do better. The subject tests don’t usually specifically cover one specific thing–so try to cram as much as you can.
Try to familiarize yourself with the test and it’s format. There are some pneumonic devices that can really help you, but I think I mainly got a 740 because of taking AP Biology. Since you hate it so much, do you have to take it? Can you take a different, more appealing subject test?

Why do you have to take biology if you hate it? If it’s a requirement for a biology program at a university, then why are you even going into that program?

Anyhow. I studied with Princeton Review. I found it to be the most comprehensible guide, though it didn’t cover some of the stuff that was on the CB practice tests.

Bio isn’t something you should mess with. If you honestly suck at it, don’t take it. The curve isn’t that generous. Take something like Math II. You know you can switch your subject test even on test date, right? They give you a huge booklet of ALL subject tests and you can still change tests without extra fees.

… I don’t know why you’re taking Biology if you hate it so much. If you thoroughly read Princeton and/or Barrons, you should get at least 600+, and much more if you’re studious/smart enough.

Prep books should apportion the information in their review sections based on the percentage of that topic is covered; I don’t know if there are any certain topics that you can try to cram in. With scores in the 400s, you’re going to need to seriously look at the entire book. You’re at a loss if you’ve only given yourself 10 days to study, because you’re probably not going to get a very competitive score. I would cram Princeton (that would probably be around 40-50 pages a day? and then give yourself a day to take practice tests). Start at the beginning.

I agree with the others here; as it is, the Biology Subject Test is pretty difficult and requires a good amount of effort and studying. If you truly hate it, then you should either not take it, or study extremely hard so you can do well.

Anyway, the prep books (preferably Barron’s and Princeton Review) should be sufficient if you read them thoroughly, but you need to make sure you have all the material down, because biology itself is an expansive subject. Take a lot of practice tests (including SparkNotes, if you can) to familiarize yourself with the structure of the test and the format of the questions. Like jeneboe, I also took AP Biology and got a 740, but I had to study quite a bit.

I’m just wondering, why are you taking it if you hate it so much?

Thank you guys. Your comments are very helpful to me. Now, I realize how much I have to work for this test, and I am willing to study so hard for it.
As for why am taking it :
It is a requirement for the college I am applying to. I’m Egyptian so the requirements are a bit different I think?
Anyways, Thank you again for the helpful comments. I really appreciate it.

i’M IN THE SAME BOAT AS you,… gonan take it this ocmign january… however I have been reading Barrons. so If I wrere you read barrons HTROUROUGHLY… for your 10 days… then go through the book again and highlight improtant details, make flashcards, meorize make a study guide… then the week before the test take practice test. AND GO OVER THE ANSWERS BOTHER WRONG AND RIGHT. keep taking those until you get a 800… then 3 days before the test take the online practice tests … on spaknotes.com there are 5 of them… over the 2 days do abotu 1 or 2, also going over those answers …till you get a 800. then finally the day before try to calm down restudy anything you have trouble with, possibly use course-notes.org for ap biology if you don’t get somehting. have a good night sleep and get popping in the mroning. make sure oyu eat breakfast.
