Help Me Please!!!

Okay! So, I am finally through the admin process and I thought my life would be going perfect. However, I am stuck in utter distress. Every waking moment I have I spend on trying to decide on which college to attend. I plan on majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Neuroscience all while completeing Premed Adv. So far I have been accepted to Princeton, Brown w/ PLME, Yale, Dartmouth, Hopkins(Fullride), WashU(fullride), Wakeforest, Cornell, and I am still waiting to hear from Uchi. I know the obvious choice should be Brown but I am not so sure I really wish to attend there in light of my other acceptances to Yale and Princeton. My unofficial top three are Brown w/PLME, Princeton, and Yale. However, I am unsure if Princeton or Yale will allow me to achieve my future goal of attending Harvard's MD MBA program. Any light you could shed on this subject or any recommendations as to which school to attend even if the basis is that you will be attending the school ha! will be greatly appreciated. I am at the point where it is even hard to sleep because I want to spend a few more hours looking at the same info I have before reasearched for countless hours. Also, I have visited the campuses and yes each appeals to me in different ways. I feel I could fit in all of them. So what I am really looking for is purely academic and chances at top tier med. But once again any light that anyone could shed is greatly appreciated.

What's PLME?

One of those BA/MD thingys.

So he's been admitted to Brown's BA/MD, but he wants to go to Harvard med, and Brown's MD would just be a backup?

It depends on how risk averse you are, and how confident you are in the strength of your high school. If having the backup in place means a great deal to you, then Brown's is the way to go. If you want to pursue the most prestigious (and probably best) education around, it sounds like you'd want to go to Princeton, right?

It's a question of values, not of a certain right choice.

Defnitely I mean definitely go to Princeton or Yale it will be worth the risk and will pay off well trust me. Just look at this link

http://www.wsjclassroomedition.com/pdfs/wsj_college_092503.pdf

I disagree. Is the risk worth taking? Read msdoc's post:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com...ad.php?t=165583
Personally, I would take Brown's PLME, JHU (full scholarship), or WU (full scholarship).
Don't fool yourself into thinking that an ivy league school education will always open doors for you.

brown plme no question.

Princeton or Yale hands down. It is the best choice, if not Brown PLME is next best. I know a lot of friends in college who were in similar situations as you, but took lesser offers and they regret it dearly.

There's no "hands down" or "no question" right answer.

It depends on how risk averse you are, how likely you are to pursue a career in medicine, and how well-prepared you think you are for college.

1.) Many Princeton and Yale grads go on to medical schools that they would prefer to Brown's medical school. For them, Princeton or Yale represents an improvement - but they did have some risk involved. Is the risk worth a better performance/more flexibility?

2.) Many premeds change their minds as to what their career is. In this case, a Princeton or Yale education will serve you better than a Brown one, although of course all three would be excellent. How likely is this to happen for you?

3.) If you want to continue into medical school without the PLME program, you will have to be a good student in college, no question. Not necessarily a great one, but certainly a good one. If you went to an inner-city high school, for example, you are less likely to excel in college and thus are more likely to want the PLME guarantee. If you come from one of the toughest high schools in the country, then doubtless you will be fine at Princeton or Yale and will be able to apply to medical schools regardless.

You see? There is no right answer, and certainly this is not a decision anybody else can make for you. It's about your own preferences and background.

Congratulations on a multiplicity of good choices.

Of course theri is no right answer, your arguing about 3 Ivy's.....haha that even sounds funny

Thanks for your input everyone! I have narrowed it down to Yale and Princeton. I'm most likely going to have to pass on Brown's PLME even though it is a sweet deal. I'm just not as happy at Brown as I am at Yale or Princeton. So if going to either of these schools means more work and a little more added stress I'm game. Thanks for the comments and keep them coming. This is just how I feel at the moment. After a few minutes on places like www.mdapplicants.com and such the thought of having a Guaranteed med school sounds to much to pass up.

Haha - don't forget, many of the applicants on mdapplicants.com are a self-selected sample. Some of the profiles may even be made up!

Still, for somebody to be nerdy enough (like me) to go on there and post all their stuff... well, they must not have very good ECs! I'm teasing, of course. Just don't let the hype get to you. I'm sure Princeton and Yale kids do great.
