Depending on my grade for the AP Calculus AB exam, I will be able to bridge to a local college as part of my school’s Advanced Study Program. In order to be part of this program, I must have exhausted my school’s offered courses in math (which I have), and must receive a 5 on my AP Calc exam. So hopefully I get a 5 and then Calculus II and Linear Algebra will be in my schedule.

Colleges:
Columbia
U. Penn.
Northwestern
University of Chicago
Johns Hopkins
Cornell
NYU
U of R
UB

I don't really think I stand a chance at the top three. They’ll be quite the stretch. But I would really like to get into Cornell, or any of the middle three. The last three are my safeties. My counselor is certain that I will be accepted into those.

I know I’m not anywhere close to being as good as the rest of you guys. But please share your opinions and/or suggestions. It’ll be very helpful and much appreciated.

Thanks.

I think there is a specific "what are my chances" forum, rather than posting here in the parents forum/

Are you joking?! You got a 2220 and you think your SATs are LOW? Uhh, reality check, that would get you into the honors college at almost every single school in the nation, not to mention that novel full of activities. I'd say yes at NW, Cornell, and your safeties. The rest is anyone's guess. Oh, btw, ask your fellow students this, not the parents. Most kids these days know more about college than their high school counselors, and they will give you a more objective opinion. Good luck!

I see no point in you taking the Chemistry SAT II again. 740 is fine, and colleges may not care about that score anyway (unless you're applying for Engineering). Most colleges seem to look at the two highest scores in different subjects. In your case, that's Bio and Math II.

Your SAT score really isn't low at all, but if you want to take one more shot at it, go ahead.

Based on what happened to my daughter and her classmates this year, I think your chances at Northwestern, Cornell, and Johns Hopkins are good, Penn is iffy, and Columbia is probably impossible (lowest acceptance rate in the country). NYU and U of R are probably sure things. You have a well thought-out list.

Yeah, those 99th percentile SAT Is <a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SATPercentileRanksCompositeCR_M.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SATPercentileRanksCompositeCR_M.pdf</a> <a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SATPercentileRanksCompositeCR_M_W.pdfmust%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SATPercentileRanksCompositeCR_M_W.pdfmust</a> really undermine your self-confidence.

And who cares about all the subject tests -- You only need two or three.
