Currently at: a Canadian university. sophomore. Business major.

Interest/ Intended major: Double major in Business and English (creative writing)

Current choices:

Yale

Columbia

NYU Stern (though I'm confused by their system. I have to apply to NYU first and then to Stern once I'm there? If anyone could shed any light on this I'd appreciate it)

????

????

As you can see I have two more choices to fill. I'd like for them to be on par with the others, but not higher (so Harvard, Wharton, Princeton are out). More around Stern's caliber I'd reckon.

Thanks in advance!

Yale and Columbia belong with Harvard Wharton Princeton, not NYU Stern. If you want more NYU Sterny stuff you should look at Northwestern, etc

You might also want to check out Penn's College.

if you want to go to stern DO NOT apply to NYU CAS. its almost impossible to transfer from CAS to stern so you definetly dont want to make that mistake.

so i guess youre looking for very competitve schools that arent quite ivy level? heres some great business schools in the northeast (looks like you wanna go there):
NYU Stern
Carnegie Mellon
BC
BU
Penn State
Villanova
UMD
Holy Cross
Georgetown
GW
UVA

what are you looking for in your transfer school, becasue i can go on and on with very competiive and academic schools that arent quite ivy caliber.. those are just some of the schools i considered applying to last year.

Good reputation and connections, with some form of financial aid. I was really, really interested in Berkeley (HAAS) but transfer is made impossible if you're not a California student.

What about some backups. The schools, the Yales and Columbia types, are harder to get into as a transfer that frosh.

Well the thing is I'm already in a college. And if I don't get into one of those colleges I really want to, I'm staying put...so I'm already in my backup. There are no other school then these which I see as being worth the expense and transfer.

True, good luck w/ the transfer.

Are you an international student? Fin aid for international transfers is generally iffy in many places, so it'd be good if you checked out each school's policy first. But if you're from the US, I don't think it should be a problem.
