Lake forest is a good school. I actually took my first SSAT there and they have a beautiful campus that’s in a great area.

Look for a school where you can dance every term to fulfill your athletic requirement. Mercersburg.

^ I second that

Lake Forest is a very good school, but since it exists outside of New England, there’s not going to be as much knowledge about it around here. But I included it in my list of schools to consider on the previous page. The real key is to not pay too much attention to whether or not people on this board think it’s a good school–there are a lot of stats snobs in these parts–and absent any real knowledge, they’ll beat up any school that doesn’t have a huge number of applicants.

What about St. John’s prep in Minnesota. I live in Chicago so bs close to that state would be better if there is any

If you can wait another year and are interested in math & science look at this option https://www.imsa.edu/discover

You can search by location as well as co-ed, all boys, etc.

A lot of kids at my school are going to IMSA because aurora is right next to us. All of my friends who applied gained entrance. It’s a great school plus you have the option of 5 or 7 day boarding. I know people who are doing both and they love it. The great part is there’s no tuition.

Off the beaten path, a school that I have heard several friends say they were very impressed with is Holderness in NH. It is a small school and supposed to very friendly. Lots of skiing nearby. Supposed to be a pretty structured environment. The Headmaster is considered excellent and has the school, it’s endowment, and it’s reputation on the upswing. One parent told me the academics were much harder than 3-4 years ago. Too far from NJ for my kids but may be worth a look.

Oh yeah, you can definitely do dance as a sport for at least one season at many schools (look for schools that allow it every term). Being an African American MALE dancer is going to work in your favor, I think! Do you do ballet? If you’re really good, look at St. Paul’s in New Hampshire (they have their own ballet company). They’re not a hidden gem by any means, but if you’re a really excellent dancer, you might have a good shot!

I’m considering Brewster and millbrooks… Those are some of the schools I’m considering… I don’t really like going through all of this and not getting accepted that’s why I Want to apply to Andover exter Deerfield etc

That’s why I dont wantsorry

Here, most of the 17 schools with 2000+ SAT are pretty much as good as it gets. Some of the less known that have 2000+ are Concord Academy, Cate School, Linden Hall (all-girls), and one of my personal favorites, Thomas Jefferson School. I know it’s one of many factors, but top SAT schools usually have everything else you could want from a tier-1 institution.
