Hey guys so I am stuck with 12 colleges that I would like to apply to but I think I should shorten my list by at least a few more. Here are my stats, followed by the colleges in order of preference.

GPA- UW- 2.7 W-2.8
(On the Rutgers scale, I have a 3.0-3.1)

SATs- (still waiting for results, will take again in December. Hopefully will do as well as I did on my practice tests and will get 1200-1300/1600 and 1800-1900/2400.

ECs-
Varsity Wrestling for 4 years
Varsity Wrestling captain 2 years
Student Gov Treasurer 1 year
Debate Club 2 years
Founder of the fitness club 2 years

Good Essays
Good recommendations for the schools that take them.
I have a legacy in NYU from my mother.

I would like to major in Philosophy

1.) Rutgers (SAS)
2.) SUNY Binghamton
3.) University of Maryland College Park
4.) Penn State
5.) University of Delaware
6.) NYU (Moms making me apply, can't take off my list)
7.) SUNY Buffalo
8.) SUNY Stony Brook
9.) Saint Johns Queens
10.) Hofstra
11.) CUNY Hunter
12.) CUNY CSI

Take off: Penn State, University of Maryland, University of Delaware, Rutgers, SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Stony Brook. I think these schools are all very, very unlikely unless you do excellent on the SAT. NYU is also very, very unlikely. Best of luck.

Your list is not very balanced. If you want a reach that’s good for philosophy, include Geneseo and Fordham. But overall you want schools that you actually have a shot at - and I don’t recommend philosophy at a Penn State Branch campus (which is where you’ll be directed since your GPAXSAT combination puts you way into there on the bubble chart - zero chance at admission to UP. Same thing for UMD.)
The only school where you have a shot and that’s decent for philosophy is St John’s. Only keep 3 from #1-8. Add 3 matches (I’d suggest: Marist, Susquehanna, Ursinus.)
If you have CSI, apply to the Honors program (the SAT score would help you). Add CCNY and Siena.
