You’re a junior, you have plenty of time to shorten your list. I would suggest visiting as many as possible and getting a feel for the environment of each university. Honestly you’ll know pretty quickly whether or not you like the school.

Just from looking at your credentials, I would say you have a legitimate shot at these schools, although for a lot of them it really is a toss up. Also take into account how far you’re willing to go away from home, how big of a school you want, not just the schools themselves, but the areas around them, and what you’re thinking of majoring in.

Hope this could be of help.

really really long list. i dont know some schools but here goes

Reaches/Low reaches: Brown, CMU, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, Yale, Stanford, Williams. Get rid of a few ivies i would say but its up to you, unless SAT goes up to 2250 +ish.

Matches/Safeties: the rest…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/816177-not-so-long-chances.html

thanks! ill keep that in mind.

I’m assuming you’re a science major?

Boston College- match
Boston University- match/safety end
Bowdoin- match
Brown- low reach(because of gpa)
Caltech- high reach(gpa)
CMU- ?
Columbia- low reach(gpa)
Cornell- match(depends on if you apply to the SUNY side or Ivy side though)
Dartmouth- low reach(gpa)
Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering- ?
Hamilton- match
Harvard- High reach
MIT- High reach
McGill- low reach(out of country advantage)
Northeastern- match/safety end
Oxford- high reach
Princeton- high reach
Stanford- reach
Williams College- ?
Yale University- high reach

I would get your CR to 700 and aim for the lower end of Ivy. Get that GPA up to a 93 if you can. I can’t really suggest without knowing your major but i’d say Brown,Cornell,Boston College is your best bet. aim for schools around there.

i’m an engineering major.
my school is rigorous and sends a letter to colleges explaining that on average only 12/~100 kids per grade get high honors (gpa over 90.00) each semester. it would suck if i was penalized because i chose lower grades and a better education over public school and a 4.0 gpa, but hopefully that won’t happen.

Here’s what I would/wouldn’t apply to if I had your list(of course, you might be preferential to certain schools over others)-
&you want to do engineering, right?
Boston College---->doesn’t have engineering
Boston University–meh
Bowdoin–yes
Brown—yes
Caltech–yes
CMU–yes
Columbia—yes
Cornell–yes
Dartmouth–meh
Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering—meh
Hamilton? meh
Harvard–meh
MIT—yes
McGill—if you don’t speak any French, you’ll be pretty miserable
Northeastern—yes
Oxford–meh
Princeton—yes
Stanford—meh
Williams College–no engineering
Yale University–meh

Too many ivies/reaches is your biggest problem. i’d say no more than 3 ivies, 4 tops & only one-MIT OR Caltech(unless those are your top 2 choices) good luck!
