I am a Moroccan/Italian student who study in Morocco in 10th grade, I would like to study in USA after graduating in high school. Well, my desire to go there burns me because I love Pure Mathematics and I can assure you that I am very hardworker.

Well, I'll take the TOEFL next year. My mathematical abilities are highest at school, I always help people in Mathematics in the Homework forum and at school. By the way, I would like to opt for engineering, but to do it I must pass SAT test or ACT test, and I don't know well about it neither when to pass it. And what about the GPA in 12th grade ?

I figure I could easily get into a good engineering program if you helps me to choose the right path. Any insights or advices ?

For most top engineering programs, you should aim for 750+ on SAT Math, which I’m assuming you will have no problem with (it’s not hard). More importantly, however, is to ace the SAT II Math Level 2 subject exam. This exam has a wider coverage, and goes up to Pre-Calculus (I think). Further, you should note that this exam has a very generous curve, and the top 10% will receive a 800/800. In other words, if you don’t score a perfect, you are already at 89% or lower. So don’t be overconfident, and prepare well for this one.

To prepare for the reading and writing sections, simply practice over and over. Buy a prep book. Download the vocab list. I don’t think there is any other way. Considering you are international, however, the admission office won’t be too strict on these (aim for 650+). Just make sure you do well on the TOEFL (much easier than SAT reading).

Most of all, make sure you keep your GPA high. It’s the most important factor when it comes to college admission. And that includes the 12th grade GPA as well. You will be required to submit your grades up to the first semester of 12th grade inclusive – Do not slack.

I understand your concerns, as I am also an international and went through the same process to get into engineering.
