I always urge students to appeal their packages. You learn a lot about how it was put together if you ask to the financial aid counselor to go over the whole accounting with you. There well may be a mistake, maybe some extra money that the office finds, so go for it. However, bear in mind that most appeals, because there are so many of them result in very little real money, usually just more loans that you could have probably gotten just asking for them, but of the kind that need parental signatures and involvement.

can somebody please guide me how to appeal my financial aid package? what would be the proper wording?

Appealing your FA package can be done in different ways. My D school have prospective students call directly to the FA office and ask politely for a reconsideration of increased aid. You can write a letter. But I would call the FA office, explain to them that you really want to go to the school and is there any way they can increase your grants or scholarships to make it more attainable to attend. It doesn’t hurt to try.
