Help Me Understand My Financial Package.

International. Accepted to BS/MS Computer Engineering 5 year Accelerated 3 Co-op Program with an invite to Penoni Honors College.

Financial Award.

Drexel Grant: $22,260.00
A. J. Drexel Scholarship: $13,110.00
Total: $35,370.00

My question is, what happens in the co-op years? Both the Grant and the AJ Scholarship grant become two-thirds of the mentioned amounts, right? (Since there's two quarters and not three in co-op years.)

Can I appeal my aid decision?

As long as a Computer Engineering major keeps his/her GPA high, s/he is pretty must guaranteed to find paid Co-ops, right? My affordability at Drexel is extremely dependent on getting paid co-ops, in all three years to be honest.

Also, a question about housing. How much beeter is Honors' specialized housing compared to say, the Towers Hall standard rooms. Is it easy to find housing near to but off of campus after freshman year?

Thanks in advance. Really appreciate your time and effort.

@gunning4ivies‌ Hey! Could you tell your stats? I am an international student as well…

I don’t think any co-op would be guaranteed.

You do not get your financial aid during co-op quarters, most coops earn quite a bit of money and you are expected to use that to cover living expenses. Like @4kidsdad‌ said, I don’t think there is any guaranty of any coop, but the better you do in school, the better chance you have of getting one.

Not quite. See http://drexel.edu/drexelcentral/billing/billing/1415_rates/quarterly_billing_info/faqs/

@4kidsdad‌ What I meant was that the odds are pretty good for high GPA kids in that major, aren’t they?

@Cameron121‌ That is exactly what I meant.

The amounts I mentioned are for three quarters and I said that it will be divided into two-thirds during the co-op years as they’re two quarter years instead of three.

@devileng‌ Nothing too special.

~70% in Indian boards.

TOEFL iBT - 105
Reading - 27
Listening - 30
Speaking -26
Writing - 22

ACT - 30
English - 31
Math - 30
Reading - 29
Science - 29
Writing - 8

SAT Subject Tests
Chemistry - 780
Physics - 770

@gunning4ivies‌ Nice…I have got similar results…Applied through regular decision…Let’s see what happens…

No doubt you’ll get in. Idk if it’ll matter that you didn’t apply early in terms of aid. What country are you from?

I can’t find the link now, but I believe that if you are in a co-op, you have a paid or unpaid co-op, usually paid for some majors including engineering, usually not paid for others, and you do not pay any tuition or fees. You do have to pay room and board if you say on campus during the co-op.

I’m surprised you got such a large award and Honors College with those stats. Good for you.

@rhandco‌ Ikr. There were special circumstances that let to that GPA but whatever.

I think my writing, activities and recommendations got through.

Plus I think a 30 on the ACT is the 75th percentile at Drexel so didn’t hurt!

@gunning4ivies‌ I applied through Early Action II…My decision was halted for my A level certificates. They received it today and said that they will review my application as an early applicant and not a regular one. Oh! And I am from Bangladesh. Wby?

@devileng India… (I thought you knew as I’d written Indian boards in a comment.)

Great, keep me posted then!

Drexel has a two year residency requirement. Dorms or suites the first year. Suites or apartments the second. That’s a great award for engineering. You shod the school directly and ask for stats on co-ops. We asked last year at accepted students days. In her major over 200 co-ops available to 90 students. 80% paid. Ypu should also ask about the special probios for international students working in
