What counts as an award?
I heard that loans count as award. Is this true?

Basically I want to understand what makes up an award.
Yes , loans and work study are part of awards. Sometimes those are the only things in an award/
The average award means NOTHING to you. Some kids have little need, so a $5500 loan “meets need”. Some kids have a LOT of need, so they’re gapped a LOT.
Student loans are counted as student financial aid. Parent Plus loans are not.
If a school says it meets 75% of need on average…really…it’s not a helpful stat unless you know the actual NEED the students had. If everyone only had $1000 of need and the school gave $750…that would be 75% met. But that amount would NOT help a student who needed $50,000.
Plus…it is an average…so that means some kids with need didn’t get it met…at all.
