Help ME, which of these southern schools has a better biology department?

I'm from maine and I want to major in Biology/Premed at these schools, can any rank or tell me about the biology or health sciences departments of these schools?

Georgia Tech-
University of Georgia-
Clemson University-
University of Miami-
Florida State-
University of Alabama-

I don't think any of them are weak. Each has its strengths. [No knowledge of Clemson]. Georgia has a strong Zoology Department. U of Miami Marine Biology is good too. U of Alabama at Birmingham has excellent Biology and Health Science Departments. Not to be confused with U of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. There's a guranteed Med school admission program for undergrads at UAB. However, it is extremely competitive.

yeah uab is really good if you can get that placement. otherwise, I'd say uga.

I'm not interested in UAB, just the schools above.

Georgia Tech- Very Good
University of Georgia-Very Good
Clemson University-Good
University of Miami-Good
Florida State-Very Good
University of Alabama -Terrible

Best on this list is the University Of Georgia, and I agree UAB would probably be the best on this list.

For what it's worth, I met someone who majored in microbiology from the University of Georgia and said they had an excellent program.

up for the day

No one will help me?

cmon cmon cmon

I disagree with the individual who felt that Univ of Alabama was terrible. Something you should consider if you are intending to be a pre med student- not all undergrad schools have an affiliated medical school. Many schools even have their health sciences campus separate (in a whole different city) from their undergrad university. A google search will tell you this. The absence of a medical school means fewer research opportunities, fewer clinical experience opportunities and less exposure in general to medicine and current med students.

I'ma let you know, GT doesn't have Pre-___ programs. But they do tell what classes to take to be accepted for grad school if you let them know (ie, many Pre-Med people major in Biomedical Eng.). I'm not sure of all the details, I semi-zoned out during that part of the admissions session. ;)
