Help me win a bet about Rice students

Please help me settle a little friendly wager:

Someone I know said "Everyone at Rice is from the South."

I said I had read on their web-site that 30% of Rice students are from states in the US other than Texas. Person then said "Yeah, but many of those 30% are from southern states."

I couldn't find a breakdown by state on the Rice website. So, those of you who really know Rice...what percentage of the students (excluding internationals) would you guess are from "the south?"

EDIT: Those numbers include grad students, which drives up the number from Texas.

his claim is false.

You win. Cash in and share the rewards :P

Purely anecdotal…
In my son’s hex-
He is from Ohio (white)
Another room mate is from Ohio (of color)
One from DC area (white)
One from Abu Dhabi (dual citizenship with India)
Two from Houston (one Hispanic, one white but Greek heritage)
