Thanks to everyone for the advice; I didn’t expect to get so many responses!

With your parents, run net price calculators on your top choice schools and your proposed safeties. If they can unequivocally say that they can comfortably afford the prices, then you have a better idea of what can be affordable. If not, then you need to prepare for the worst case that their ability and willingness to contribute to your education is very limited, perhaps by including some http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-17.html#post15743177 as safeties.

Looking at the Naviance from our Massachusetts public school, I think the you have an excellent chance to get into BC EA - I would say 90% rather than 100%, only because they do have competitive admissions, but really, nobody with a profile like yours has been denied.

If you are going to do that anyway, Northeastern and UMASS are literally no extra work because their CommonApp supplements contain no additional essays. Our Naviance says that Northeastern is a total safety, and UMASS Honors is practically automatic for this student.

If she gets into BC EA, and could be happy there, she has a nice safety and can be laser focused on the reaches going into the New Year’s deadline. If not, she can add an additional safety like Momrath mentioned. Smith, Mt Holyoke and Bryn Mawr all have a Jan 15 deadline, so there would still be some time to add one of them.

Wellesley, which is a terrific school and DW’s alma mater, also has a Jan 15 deadline. Wellesley is a match (70%) and needs to see some lovin’ from you.

In contrast the Naviance for Princeton would predict roughly a 10% chance of admission (rounding up to the nearest 10%). While you should definitely apply because it’s your first choice, it’s not likely to give you early solace because of the single choice restriction.

Thank you all for the detailed responses.
@ClassicRockerDad- I appreciate your answers very much! My school’s Naviance isn’t very helpful because there have been so few apps (<10) to the schools I’m most interested in. Thank you for your insight!
